The Latter-day Disciples are pleased to present weekly podcasts, an LDS Come Follow Me series, blogs, online classes, virtual conferences, and more to help you boldly embody the gospel, recognize the signs of the times, and prepare to receive Jesus Christ.

Meghan Farner is a lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ, her most favorite thing in the world being deep doctrinal conversations. She openly advocates the practice of fearlessly seeking truth out of all places the spirit may lead, while being immovably grounded in Jesus Christ. Her background in business, communications, psychology, and human relations, along with her personal studies of scripture, apocrypha, ancient history, and other faith traditions, make her a renaissance woman, and an engaging hostess and presenter. Ep. 122 | True Principles in Eastern Spirituality, with Shauna Weller
Meghan is joined by Shauna Weller, who shares her story achieving mental and physical health through a study of Eastern medicine and practices. Topics include: - Healing our Body with Love- Overcoming the Natural - The True Nature of God- Receiving Personal Revelation- We all Worship the Same GodShauna Weller is a mom, wife, grandma, teacher, writer, traveler and seeker of LIGHT. As an educator of over 25 years, she is passionate about life-long learning. Her motto as a classroom teacher has always been to never stop being a student herself. She has studied at undergraduate, post-graduate and master's levels with degrees and certificates in secondary education and Spanish teaching, Pre-K-12 grade curriculum development, early childhood education, Chinese medicine, qigong, taichi, group fitness instruction and wellness life coaching. In the last half of her career as a teacher, Shauna began shifting focus towards the much-needed social-emotional learning, trauma-informed education and mindfulness training for children and adults. After 2020, she decided to leave the classroom and embark on what she refers to as a "Sabbatical of Self-care." This journey led her to a deep dive into the study of taichi and qigong as well as the principles of energy, vibration, water fitness and sound healing. She began attending fitness conferences, teaching classes and soon became certified to teach in this new setting as a fitness instructor. She has finally found her passion as a teacher! In this endeavor, Shauna lost over 50 lbs., changed her daily habits to include self-care and is spreading light within her circle of influence. She created a custom chi program, VesselofLight7.3, in which she has fused the best practices from all her studies along with her personal experiences in this journey. In addition to learning from experts in the field of chi, Shauna also spent countless hours during this time as a student at The Lord's University-- the temple. She soon became an ordinance worker and her mind literally began to expand as she began attending the temple more often and with a fresh perspective with a mental notebook in hand. The Heavens are open and "further light and knowledge" are there, just waiting to be discovered!Have Feedback? Send the LDD team a text! Ep. 116 | Building Zion Relationships, with Heather Linchenko
Meghan is joined by author Heather Linchenko as they discuss her recent book, "'I Meant Well' and Other Words That Kill Relationships." Topics include: - The Implicit Commandment- Prioritizing Love Over Tradition- The "Fight Cycle" - Contending Righteously- Redefining Zion-The Evolution of Our TransformationHeather Linchenko was raised in a Christian home in Idaho, the eighth of ten children. She served as a missionary in Belgium and France and was privileged to work for several years as the executive assistant to Stephen R. Covey, author of the best-selling book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. She married a man who grew up as one of two siblings in an atheist home in communist Russia. As she and her husband raised their five children, their polar opposite backgrounds necessitated a break from convention and tradition, emboldening Heather to break ground on a garden of fresh ideas. Her greatest passion is helping others create a culture of laughter, learning, and openness in the home. She mutinied against today’s broken approach to teaching math to young children by creating a truly new and compelling times tables product/program (for kids as young as 5 or 6) that creates in them a flexible, math-ready brain and a belief that they are smart [MathHacked.com]. She loves to see young kids thrive on the addictive feeling of success. She has authored three books: Letters from Kazakhstan, which details her family’s 1998 adventures in post-Soviet Kazakhstan; Mom! You’re Working Too Hard, which teaches parents and teachers how to educate children in a way everyone loves (no resistance!); and [hot off the press] “I Meant Well' And Other Words That Kill Relationships, wherein she shares a wealth of knowledge on how to make bad relationships good and good relationships vibrant. As time permits, she enjoys mentoring others through their relationship conundrums.              She has developed a one-day intensive training called “Expand Your Influence” wherein she trains busy executives how—through the development of specific mental and verbal relationship skills—to fast-track their way to greater personal and business success. One of her greatest compliments is to have been referred to as “the relationship scientist.”Her central guiding quote is: “From the closed-mindedness that won’t accept new truth; from the laziness that will accept half-truth; From the arrogance that thinks it knows all truth; Good Lord, deliver me” (Kenyan Prayer).Have Feedback? In early 2021, Dave co-curated “A Desolating Sickness,” a literary response to the Covid pandemic that was displayed in BYU’s Harold B. Lee Library. This semester (Winter 2024) for the second time, his novel The Cunning Man (co-written with Aaron Michael Ritchey), which in July 2022 made the AML’s list of 100 Works of Significant Mormon Literature, is being taught in a Mormon Lit class on BYU campus.Dave takes the position that the Book of Mormon is an ancient document, and also that the Book of Mormon is a work of temple literature. The Nephite prophets were members of an esoteric lineage that wrote for an audience that they expected to possess eyes to see and ears to hear, and the intended way to understand the meaning of their writings is to read through the lens of our own temple experience. He embodied his early thoughts in this vein in a pair of short books, Plain and Precious Things and The Goodness and the Mysteries, both self-published under the pen name D. John Butler.Dave is currently hard at work on his third book on this subject, entitled In the Language of Adam. He hopes to bring this book out in Spring 2024.Dave plays guitar and banjo whenever he can, and hangs out in Utah with his wife, their children, and the family dog.Have Feedback?
