Spiritual Brain Surgery with Dr. Lee Warren

Dr. Lee Warren

When life gets hard, does what we think we believe hold us up, or does it crumble under the weight of doubt? I'm your host, Dr. Lee Warren- I'm a brain surgeon, author, and a person who's seen some stuff and wondered where God is in all this mess. This is The Spiritual Brain Surgery podcast, where we'll take a hard look at what we believe, why we believe it, and the neuroscience behind how our minds and our brains can smash together with faith to help us become healthier, feel better, and be happier so we can find the hope to withstand anything life throws at us. You've got questions, and we're going to do the hard work to find the answers, but you can't change your life until you change your mind, and it's gonna take some spiritual-brain surgery to get it done. So let's get after it. read less

Using Your Gifts in a Godly Way: Bob and Linda Lotich on Kingdom Finances

Using Your Gifts in a Godly Way: Bob and Linda Lotich on Kingdom Finances
Money and Finances Can Be a Constant Source of StressBob and Linda Lotich are here today to talk about a different way to live, and they have a unique and surprising story.  Bob Lotich found himself at his breaking point in his early 20’s overwhelmed by debt and stranded 1,000 miles from home with only $7 to his name. After crying out to God for wisdom and discovering a simpler (and far more effective) approach to money, he reached a level of financial freedom he never dreamed possible: having a paid-off house by age 31 and even reaching a personal goal of giving $1 million by age 40. For the last 15 years he’s shared his best lessons with over 52 million readers and listeners on his award-winning blog, SeedTime.com and SeedTime Money Podcast.Linda has spent a lifetime perfecting the art of avoiding boring conversations. Though her financial life was a mess (carrying guilt for making bad decisions, and so much shame she didn’t even know how to ask for help) she just prayed it would all work out. And one day she met the man of her dreams (named Bob), and he had no problem taking her mess and creating all the pie charts and spreadsheets. But as time went on, she began realizing how investing a little time in something she typically found boring, could actually open up the adventure of a lifetime with God!Their book, Simple Money, Rich Life is a unique and fascinating look at learning to have a Kingdom mindset in all areas of your life, including your finances. Five Ways You Can Support this show:Pray for us!Subscribe, like, and share it with your friends! The Math of Mind Change
Feb 15 2024
The Math of Mind Change
The Mathematics of Mind ChangeEphesians 4 gives us the equations that direct the self-brain surgery process. Today, we're going to brush up on our arithmetic, and learn the math of mind change.1 Corinthians 2:15-16New Living Translation15 Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. 16 For,“Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?”But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.F + K = M (Verse 13, faith + knowledge = maturity)M= SOC (Maturity = Standard of Christ)SOC = G + S (Standard of Christ = Grown up and stable)G + S = STL (Grown up and stable = Able to speak truth in love)STL = MLC + HGL (Speaking truth in love = More Like Christ and Healthy, Growing in Love)GM = C + D + FFG + CP (Gentile mind= confused, dark, far from God, chasing pleasure) Ephesians 4 (NLT):12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.Living as Children of Light17 With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. 18 Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. 19 They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.Scripture: Ephesians 4:13-19Remember the ABIDE prayer/meditation practice:Level I (Hearing):ApproachBreatheInviteDependExperienceLevel II (Self-Brain Surgery Practice):AssessBelieveIncisionDeepenExpectSPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: The Spiritual Brain Surgery Podcast is now live everywhere! But what if instead of ignoring our feelings, we noticed them, named them, and let God use them to draw us closer to Himself and others? Many of us need to unlearn damaging messages about our emotions. We’ve been taught, for example, that emotions are untrustworthy, when, in fact, God can use them to help us see where we need His healing. In Untangle Your Emotions, Jennie Allen uses scientific research, biblical insight, and her own story to help you● exchange stuffing, dismissing, or minimizing your emotions for a five-step process to know what you feel and what to do about it● debunk the myth that feelings are sinful by learning how emotional maturity leads to deeper connection with God and others● live emotionally healthy by applying biblical wisdom and therapeutic research that works whether you self-identify as “emotional” or not● sit with feelings that are confusing and painful by discovering the depth of God’s love and compassion for youBook: Untangle Your Emotions: Naming What You Feel and Knowing What to Do About It by Jennie AllenSPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: The Spiritual Brain Surgery Podcast is now live everywhere! Alisa Childers and Tim Barnett on Deconstruction

Alisa Childers and Tim Barnett on Deconstruction
What is deconstruction? Is it a normal, healthy process of examining our faith, or is it something more?Join me for a deep look at this important topic in today's church, with authors Alisa Childers and Tim Barnett as we discuss their new book (releasing today worldwide), The Deconstruction of Christianity. From Amazon.com: A groundbreaking book on the true nature of faith deconstructionAlisa and Tim help the reader to deconstruct the deconstructionists and thus to respond to them, both with arguments and with love and sensitivity. This is a timely book! -- Carl Trueman, author of The Rise and Triumph of the Modern SelfA movement called ‘deconstruction’ is sweeping through our churches and it is affecting our loved ones. It has disrupted, dismantled, and destroyed the faith of so many, and this book can help you not only understand what’s happening but also stand your ground and respond with clarity and confidence.Maybe you have a loved one who is deconstructing their faith, and you are struggling to know how to respond;Maybe you are trying to understand the radical spiritual makeover your friend or family member is going through;Maybe your relationship with a loved one has been strained or even cut off because of your “toxic” Christian beliefs and you don’t know what to do;Maybe you’re experiencing doubt yourself and facing hard questions about truth, God, the Bible, theology and the gospel. Some who leave the faith feel wounded by the church. Others feel repressed by some of the moral imperatives found in Scripture. For some, it leads to a custom-made spirituality. For others, deconstructing their faith leads them away from the truth into agnosticism, atheism, the occult, or humanism. In this seminal book, Alisa Childers, author of Another Gospel?, and Tim Barnett, creator of Red Pen Logic, will help you understand what deconstruction is, where it comes from, why it is compelling to some, and how it disorients the lives of so many. You will be able to think through the main issues around faith deconstruction and explore wise and loving ways to respond from a biblical worldview.Leave a voicemail with your question or comment!Five Ways You Can Support this show:Pray for us!Subscribe, like, and share it with your friends!
