The Enter The House Between podcast is an intriguing science fiction audio drama. It starts in a new reality where everything is not what it used to be. Here, anything anyone believes and dreams exists. Every decision someone makes creates a new reality. Six unlikely companions must navigate this uncertain future of the Quantumsphere. They must understand these new dimensions to build a new world and survive.
Enter The House Between is the followup to The House Between web series. Both are from award-winning author John Kenneth Muir. He is a professor and writer who also plays the character of Dr. Sam Clark on the podcast series. Joining John to create this fictional story is a team of producers, voice actors, and sound designers.
The first podcast episode outlines the setting of the story. Early in the 20th century, events fractured reality. Humanity evacuated into smart houses that allowed them to access the Quantumsphere. They represent 1001 different paths taken and not taken. These paths include dreams, imaginings, and disturbing fantasies. An AI, called Lars, controls the technology within the space.
Each episode reveals more about the mystery of this new reality. In one, a poker game sets high stakes for one player in particular. Another explores the relationship between characters Astrid and Bill, as they experience a strange incident.
In the second episode, Teresa gives birth to a Lars-human hybrid. Some characters assume the scientist and dad of two will know how to deliver a baby. Another goes to fetch blankets. The only character who seems in control is the one giving birth!! Debates over her baby interrupt the familiar labor scene. Should she raise the baby as a human? Or could they use it to control their smart home? When Teresa reveals the baby has provided its name to her, it becomes clear which direction they might choose.
Enter The House Between provides great escapism for listeners. It maps out a new world with astounding consequences, some darker than others. Listeners can follow the journeys of key characters as they try to make sense of their new reality.
