Episode 520: Jordan Green, Ballogy Chief Experience Officer
Today’s guest is Jordan Green, Chief Experience Officer at Ballogy! Jordan is a former collegiate and pro athlete who is a remarkable example of how you can turn your skill set and passion into a life long career after the ball stops bouncing! He was a three year start at Texas A&M University, played for the San Antonio Spurs G-League affiliate for 3 years and then spent one year playing professionally in France. He had a short stint working with Ernst & Young in between his playing years, and after hanging up the shoes (for real the second time), he stepped into a big role with Ballogy, a software company that is transforming the way athletes prepare for their sports. Today we talked about: When he first started getting serious about basketball Getting state ranked early and what it really meant His recruiting process and why he chose Texas A&M How he built relationships the moment he got to college Preparing for a job in something other than sports His first job at Ernst & Young and what his role was The moment he realized he missed the game The rollercoaster of emotions during G-League tryouts A quick stint playing professionally in France How he got involved in Ballogy & all about the company The important aspects of modern player development His entrepreneurial project – “The Whole Athlete” and much more Appreciate you tuning in. Episode 514: Darren Angell, Asst to the Head Coach at Furman University
Today’s guest is Darren Angell, Assistant to the Head Coach at Furman University! Darren is the first ever “run it back episode” on Sports Business Secrets. Which is awesome for a few reasons. First, it means I’ve been bringing on experts in the industry for a long time. Second, and more importantly, he has pivoted to a different role in the sports business world so we get to learn a new perspective! Darren played basketball at Mercyhurst University before getting his law degree from the University of Kansas. He spent many years practicing law as an attorney in Chicago, during which time he simultaneously represented professional basketball players as a licensed sports agent. He had a change of heart in 2021 to get back into the coaching world, and after a giant leap of faith and found himself on staff at Indiana State University. Fast forward to today he is in his second year with Furman University with a role that I like to refer to as, “the most important job in modern college basketball.” Today we talked about…. leaving law and jumping back into college sportshis first role as a director of basketball operationsthe opportunity to join coach Richey’s staff at Furmanthe extraordinary NCAA Tournament win in 2023his role as the “chief of staff” and what that entailswhy coaching staffs need to manage the business sideNIL updates and how Furman is navigating that spaceWhat fundraising means for college basketballThe challenges of building a culture in today’s landscapeWhat the future college landscape looks likeand much more Appreciate you tuning in.
