Sharp Conversations with Lee Buttz, MD
Charles “Lee” Buttz, MD is Tandigm Health’s, Chief Medical Officer. In his role, Dr. Buttz is working to accelerate the adoption of value-based care and empower independent physician practices through clinical tools, technology, and population health management. With his deep and personal knowledge of the needs of primary care physicians and their teams, Dr. Buttz has redesigned Tandigm Health’s care management program and recruited top-tier clinicians to head the company’s provider network transformation. He has been pivotal in strengthening Tandigm Health’s clinical team and sharpening its focus on evolving quality goals, helping providers across the Philadelphia region to provide the highest quality care at the lowest possible cost to improve the lives of more than 100,000 patients. Dr. Buttz also created Tandigm Health’s utilization management department, expanded the company’s preferred provider network through contractual relationships in high-cost specialties, and developed an organizational strategic plan for behavioral health. Before joining Tandigm Health in 2016, Dr. Buttz served as Medical Director of Utilization at Temple University Hospital, Client Medical Director at iHealth Technologies, and Medical Director at Cigna. Dr. Buttz began his medical career with the U.S. Army as a Clinic Commander and Chief of Primary Care and practiced family medicine at independent practices, where he held various leadership roles.
