Our Editor's Take

Joy, a Podcast. Hosted by Craig Ferguson is an exploration of what makes people happy. The host of the show is Craig Ferguson. He has had a long, storied career in film and TV. He is best known for his talk show tenure on The Late Late Show on CBS from 2005 to 2014. He went on to host many other shows, including Celebrity Name Game. Ferguson's most famous film role is Gobber in the How To Train Your Dragon franchise.

But there is another side to Ferguson. In 2017, he and his wife Megan Wallace Cunningham launched Couple Thinkers, a show that asked big questions. Ferguson has also authored three books, a novel, a biography, and a memoir. Behind the seductive smile and the charming brogue, there is an inquisitive mind. He shows it in this podcast.

In every episode of Joy, Ferguson sits down with a celebrity for a cozy chat about what makes them happy. Many of the guests are friends, so the talks feel comfortable right away. Ferguson's perception and attention lead the interviewees to open up. Kathie Lee Gifford talks about how her faith sustained her as she grieved for her husband. Gabriel Iglesias credits his mother for keeping his ego from getting too big. Angela Kinsey, who played Angela in The Office, auditioned for the role of Pam but was too feisty for the part.

Ferguson loves to reminisce with former colleagues on the podcast. He and Diedrich Bader look back at their days on the Drew Carey Show. They remember getting naked for the "Full Monty" episode. Josh Robert Thompson voiced Geoff Peterson, Ferguson's robotic sidekick on The Late Late Show. Thompson's mother was an artist and his biological father, who he never met, died of AIDS in the 1990s.

Joy, a Podcast. Hosted by Craig Ferguson may appeal to Ferguson fans. His conversations are entertaining and informative. The show might be a great listen for people who love a good laugh. New episodes debut each week.
