A Creative Path to Self-Awareness through Art and Meditation with Ingela Johansson
Ingela is an artist and founder of Zenart, where she runs programs in art meditation. Her creative process shows us a path to discover our inside artist, connecting being present as a way to find flow, a moment to let ourselves being completely present and fully immersed in a task. She inspired us to dare to be creative for the pure fun of it. For Ingela Johansson, the universality of emotions, senses, and colors is what inspires art. By creating in nature and combining it with meditation, her brush can flow freely, often creating pieces that may evoke a certain feeling in her. Ingela was born in Sweden and educated in London, Stockholm, and Borås. She has lived and worked as an artist in South East Asia for six years but moved back to Sweden to be closer to nature and family. You can find her artworks at the New Zealand High Commission, Swedish Embassy in Singapore, and private collectors. She has exhibited in eight countries and has worked as an artist since 2014. Her art agent for Asia is Betty Ashman at Club Artisans. She has written the book" Create to Flow" about installing a habit for creative well-being. So let's get to know her a little more!We can't wait to hear your feedback; what type of topics will help you to create and boost your creativity? How would you define creativity? A multicultural journey through curiosity with Ibrahim Al-Marashi
A fascinating and enriching conversation with Professor Ibrahim Al-Marashi. He uses the power of storytelling to teach and as a channel to express his point of view. He inspired us with his genuine desire and passion for teaching and giving voice to what matters most to him, which interests derive from his background, but also his innate curiosity, discovering different cultures and ways of seeing the world while traveling to more than 57 countries.Because creativity for him is, this divine power inside of us, something that we can not explain, it is a gift that required to be exposed to different perspectives.  While curiosity is one of his value and what drives his journey. In September 2002 he published an article for the journal, The Middle East Review of International Affairs.  In February 2003, entire sections of that article were copied and pasted into a dossier that was used by the British government to justify the war against Iraq.  His involvement in the affair sparked his interest in political communication and the power of narrative. Ibrahim is Associate Professor of Middle East history at California State University San Marcos and visiting professor at the IE University School of Global and Public Affairs in Madrid, Spain. He obtained his doctorate in Modern History at University of Oxford, completing a thesis on the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. His research focuses on 20th century Iraqi history, and currently is focusing on the effects of climate change on the nation. He is co-author of Iraq’s Armed Forces: An Analytical History (Routledge, 2008), and The Modern History of Iraq, with Phebe Marr (Routledge 2017), and A Concise History of the Middle East (Routledge, 2018). Tap into your authentic self one layer at a time with Julie Schumer

Tap into your authentic self one layer at a time with Julie Schumer
In this week's episode, Julie Schumer shares with us her love for abstract art and the wisdom she found in the process, which applies to life itself. Julie was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She began painting at age five and continued through high school. She was an abstract expressionist early on, being chastised by her elementary school teachers for her drippy non-realist work. In college her practical nature asserted itself, and she became a lawyer instead of an artist. For many years she had her own practice as an appellate lawyer specializing in criminal appeals. During those years, she married, raised a family, and collected art, wishing all the while she had painted what she collected. Unfortunately, the many demands of her career and family stopped her from picking up a paintbrush again. Finally, in 2000, she reconnected with an old friend, artist James Koskinas. He sensed her long suppressed desire to create art and asked her why she wasn't painting. Julie answered she didn't know. Koskinas brought her several pieces of wood, acrylic paint and a few brushes and said, "Paint." She hasn't stopped painting since. In 2002, the pair relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where they paint side by side companionably in their studio, a modern-day Pollack and Krasner.  Julie is largely self-taught. Her work has been exhibited across the United States and in Europe and is in many private collections. She has participated in several museum shows. In 2014, Julie was invited to teach a loosening up painting workshop for the West Texas Watercolor Society in Lubbock, Texas. This was the beginning of her discovery of her love of teaching expressive painting workshops, first in her Santa Fe studio, and now online with Atlanta-based artist Cat Tesla. Julie's work has been exhibited widely across the United States in galleries, art fairs and other forums in many private collections and is now part of the collection of the Tucson airport in Tucson, Arizona.Follow Julie's art: @julieschumerartist ---------------We can't wait to hear your feedback; what type of topics will help you to create and boost your creativity?
