Our Editor's Take

Upfront - A Women's Football Podcast provides a place for women's soccer fans around the world to congregate and share their love of the sport. The program's primary focus is the Women's Super League or WSL. It is the highest league for women's soccer in England. This organization has grown a lot over the last several years. The hosts manage to use their backgrounds to provide insight into not only the game but also the issues affecting female players.

The hosts and creators of this podcast are Chloe Morgan and Rachel O'Sullivan. They differ in many ways but share an equal love of this game. Morgan is a former player who played as a goalie from 2013 to 2022 when she retired. Additionally, she is a journalist and an attorney. As a lawyer, she specializes in personal injury cases. Despite no longer being an active player, she is still a strong advocate for women's soccer in England.

Podcast cohost O'Sullivan is the cofounder of the organization GirlsontheBall. The group's stated goal is to use social media and digital pathways to promote the game of women's soccer. O'Sullivan is passionate about creative marketing through social media.

One of the most compelling aspects of this podcast is the interviews the hosts conduct. Players, both former and current, have made appearances on this program. These include athletes like Niamh Charles and Demi Stokes. These conversations are often candid and insightful. The topics discussed include things like wage gaps and mental health. These conversations have previously had few platforms before.

Between the high-quality analysis and player interviews, there is a lot to enjoy here. Women's soccer fans will likely find this podcast both insightful and compelling. New episodes of Upfront - A Women's Football Podcast air twice weekly on a rotating schedule. Full episodes run for about 30 minutes to an hour, while bonus segments are shorter in duration.

Inspiring young women with Premier League Changemakers
Back in March, Chloe and Rachel came together with over 50 young women and dozens of coaches for a very special event with the Premier League at the National Football Museum in Manchester. Their aim? To discuss gender equality, explore opportunities for women within the football industry, and inspire these young girls. The event was all organised by Premier League Changemakers, a programme that provides training opportunities for girls and young women across the country in leadership and – of course – football. So, on today's episode, you're going to hear from some of the people that make that happen. Chloe and Rachel take you inside this inspiring day and chat with coaches and women and girls leads from some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and WSL, as well as Ruth Shaw OBE, Chief Executive of the Premier League Charitable Fund. From football training for Somali women in Bristol, to young women getting the skills to coach young boys at programmes in Manchester, you'll hear about some of the inspiring work that's going on in all corners of the country. Chloe and Rachel also reflect on the Premier League's No Room For Racism Action Plan, the importance of diversity in women's football, and Chloe's own journey into the sport. There's also the small matter of Chloe's Spurs shirt being installed in the museum! Tune in to hear about that and much more.Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube!
