The host of Zero To Travel Podcast grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia in the 80s and 90s. Back then, Jason Moore didn't see any representation of unconventional living. People there had a planned path of going to college, going into debt, getting a job, an apartment, and so on. Traveling the world never seemed like a feasible option. It was only when his friends started doing semesters abroad that he saw this as a great opportunity. He planned on backpacking through Europe after graduation. Those two months transformed his life. This could have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Then he decided to make traveling his lifestyle.
For the next decade and a half, he hopped around, accumulating stories and perspectives. Those were the beginning seeds for the Zero To Travel Podcast. In every hostel, Jason met incredible people who also traveled the world. But they had a completely different life experience to his.
Through conversations with other nomads, he learned about the different ways to travel. While some people quit their jobs, others find jobs that help them travel. Many travelers do it solo. But there are also nomadic families who roam with small children and even pets. There are also multiple modes of transit. They range from vans to hitchhiking or even working in the event industry. Those discussions taught Jason so much about life as a traveler that he never knew was possible. With his podcast, he wanted to tell listeners about these ways.
The Zero To Travel Podcast is not only for the aspiring digital nomad and amateur traveler. It also contains advice for people who want to travel for a gap year or even for a few weeks. Jason shares practical tips, like how to find the cheapest flights or accommodation. He also hosts guests like travel expert Rick Steves. Alongside, there are deeper talks, such as the dangers of traveling solo as a woman or a Black person. Jason's podcast, with episodes dating back to 2013, can provide listeners with an extensive guide to life on the road.
