Episode #3 Our Local Heroes
Our Local Heroes: This episode lauds those in our community, heroes big and small, who have made a difference. Hosted by: Aurelia and Aiden Act 1: Meet Geoff the School Crossing Supervisor Written and Produced by: Aoife Act 2: Our Bali Memorial Written and Produced by: Scout Act 3: The Life of a Local Surf Life Saver Written and Produced by: Sophie Biographies: Angela Moles is a professor in ecology at UNSW Sydney. She studies the way plants are responding to climate change, and the reasons introduced species are so successful. Angela also works with the NSW government to help protect threatened species and maximise biodiversity conservation. In her spare time, Angela is a volunteer surf lifesaver with Coogee Surf Lifesaving Club, and she is a mum with two children. Geoff Surtees has been a Randwick and Coogee local for about 20 years. He decided to take some personal time out from the workforce to focus on his marketing business from home. He then decided to take up some part-time work and saw the ad for school crossing supervisors and thought that would be a great job as it would give him time during the day.  Little did he know how rewarding it would be to interact with students, teachers, parents and the neighbours of the school. When he wakes up in the morning he always looks forward to meeting and greeting the students, knowing that, not only does he get a chance to chat with them, but he is keeping them safe too.
