The Most Well-Documented UFO Case in History? The Rendlesham Forest Incident (Episode #37)
On December 26, 1980, around 3am a USAF security patrol near the east gate of the RAF Woodbridge base observed strange lights descending into Rendlesham Forest located in Suffolk England. Initially, they thought it might be a downed aircraft, prompting them to investigate further. When the servicemen entered the forest they encountered a glowing object that was metallic in appearance and had colored lights. As they approached, the object seemed to move through the trees and animals on a nearby farm reportedly went into a frenzy during this time. The UK Ministry of Defence initially dismissed the incident as having no national security implications. So what did the USAF soldiers see in #RendleshamForest that night?    Link to Halt Tape: http://www.ianridpath.com/ufo/halttape.html   MUSIC Theme Music by Dethlehem (dethlehem.bandcamp.com) SOCIAL LINKS Website: www.mysteriouspals.comEmail: mysteriouspalsonline@gmail.comYoutube: @MysteriousPalsFacebook: @mysteriouspalsInstagram: @mysteriouspalsX/Twitter: @mysterious_palsPodcast Feeds: www.mysteriouspals.com EPISODE RESOURCES Ridpath, Ian. Was She A Cold War Spy? The Case of the Isdal Woman (Episode #36)
On November 29, 1970, a father and his two daughters were hiking in Norway’s Isdalen Valley when they came upon a grim discovery: the body of a deceased woman. Unable to identify her, authorities dubbed her the "Isdal Woman". Found near her were various items, including jewelry, a watch, bottles with labels scraped off, and clothes with removed labels. Subsequent investigation uncovered suitcases containing similarly unlabeled items, along with a coded piece of paper. Though the autopsy revealed she had ingested 50-70 sleeping pills, leading to a ruling of suicide, suspicions of murder persisted among some police and the public. The woman's extensive travels, use of fake aliases, and purported eyewitness accounts fueled speculation that she may have been a Cold War spy. The mystery of her identity and demise remains unsolved. Banished by the Devil? The Will-O'-the-Wisps (Episode #35)
Seen across the world and told in various folktales, the Will-O'-the-Wisp is said to resemble a flickering lamp or lantern, often leading travelers astray from a safe path. In some cultures, the will-o'-the-wisps are often associated with ghosts, fairies, or elemental spirits. In modern times, the will-o-the-wisp has been seen as extraterrestrial rather than mystical. The will-o-the-wisp is also more commonly associated with a story about Stingy Jack who tricked the devil. In turn he was forced to wander the earth with a single ember that he carries in a hollow gourd, many now call this as a jack-o-lantern. So what or who are the will-o-the-wisps? Escaped Alcatraz or Died Trying? (Episode #34)
Alcatraz Prison, deemed inescapable during its 29-year stint as an American federal prison, was situated on an isolated island surrounded by cold, rough waters. Despite 13 other escape attempts by  dozens of other inmates (including 2 who tried twice), Frank Morris and brothers John and Clarence Anglin may have successfully escaped on June 11, 1962, evading capture through meticulous planning, deception, and ingenuity. Their fate, whether they survived and lived as free men, remains a #mystery. A Case of Teleportation? The Philadelphia Experiment (Episode#33)
According to the legend, towards the end of 1943 the United States Navy were conducting experiments in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. The experiment was purportedly conducted as part of a classified project aimed at making ships invisible to enemy radar. On October 28, 1943, it is claimed that the USS Eldridge was enveloped in a greenish haze, disappeared from sight, and reappeared in Norfolk, Virginia. Only to then instantly teleport back to Philadelphia in another flash. What followed was reports of sailors fused with the hull of the ship, many with traumatic brian injuries, and some even stuck in a time loop. So what really happened at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard? Was it an example of teleportation or something worse? Proof of Reincarnation or Confirmation Bias? The Tale of the Pollock Twins (Episode #32)
In 1957 sisters Jacqueline and Joanna Pollock tragically died after being hit by a drug-induced driver while on their way to church. A year later, their parents, John and Florence, welcomed identical twins, Gillian and Jennifer, into the world. Shortly after things soon became weird. Jennifer bore a birthmark resembling Jacqueline's, even located in the same spot. She also had a birthmark on her forehead in the same location as a scar on Jacqueline. Over time, the twins recounted memories of the deceased sisters, requested toys they had never seen by name, and mimicked their sisters' personalities and behaviors. They even displayed a fear of cars and reportedly reenacted their sisters' fatal accident. The parents claimed to have shared no prior knowledge of the deceased sisters to the twins. Despite their Catholic faith, the parents believed the twins were the reincarnation of his deceased daughters. Does this prove reincarnation or is this only a matter of confirmation bias? A Deep DIVE into the Underwater World of Mermaids (Episode #31)
For thousands of years stories of mermaids have been told across the world. While each culture has its own twist to legend, the core story remains constant. Sometimes it's a cautionary tale about the dangers of the ocean, and sometimes it’s of a forbidden love between a human and a merfolk. In any case, the question of why the story has endured from through pre-recorded and recorded history remains challenging. So, where did the legend of mermaids come from and why is it so common throughout nearly all parts of the world? How do you Sail to Heaven? The Airships of Clonmacnoise (Episode #26)
Originally mentioned in 4 different annals of Ireland, collectively called the Annals of the Four Masters, the story of the Airship of Clonmacnoise was first mentioned in the 740s CE. While it has been retold numerous times throughout history, the base of the story remains the same. Specifically, during a gathering of many people a ship appears in the sky and lets down an anchor that snags on the earth. Then one of the crew from the ship in the air swims down to free the anchor but is stopped by the gathering crowd of onlookers. Sometimes the visitor drowns while being held back from returning to his ship. While other times he swims back and boards his ship which sails out of sight. So, why does so many different texts, including norse texts and even the Houston Post from 1897, report the same story?  MUSIC Theme Music by Dethlehem (dethlehem.bandcamp.com) SOCIAL LINKS Website: www.mysteriouspals.comEmail: mysteriouspalsonline@gmail.comYoutube: @MysteriousPalsFacebook: @mysteriouspalsInstagram: @mysteriouspalsX/Twitter: @myserious_palsPodcast Feeds: www.mysteriouspals.com EPISODE RESOURCES Carey, John (1992). However, what followed his death may be even more mysterious. Despite his expressed burial wishes, his kingdom descended into civil war, and his body became a political pawn. Taken by Ptolemy, his former friend and general, back to Egypt, Alexander's body and tomb vanished after several centuries, leaving their whereabouts and contents shrouded in uncertainty. The Buzzard's Treasure? The Story of Olivier Levasseur (Episode #24)
It is estimated that Olivier Levasseur stole over £1 billion in today's value from raiding ships throughout the Caribbean, the coast of South America, and the Indian Ocean. Not to mention his biggest act of piracy would be used by Robert Louis Stevenson in his novel Treasure Island.  His successes granted him the title as one of the most successful pirates of his time. However, he was captured and hung in 1730 but his massive amount of treasure was never found. Legend says that before his execution, he threw his necklace with the cryptogram into the crowd and shouted "Find my treasure, the one who may understand it!"  MUSIC Theme Music by Dethlehem (dethlehem.bandcamp.com) SOCIAL LINKS Website: www.mysteriouspals.comEmail: mysteriouspalsonline@gmail.comYoutube: @MysteriousPalsFacebook: @mysteriouspalsInstagram: @mysteriouspalsX/Twitter: @myserious_pals EPISODE RESOURCES Rennie, Neil (2013). What Else Did the Nazi's Hide in Lake Toplitz? (Episode #22)
In towns along the Totes Gebirge Mountain range, there were reports of a convoy of trucks guarded by SS troops traveling to a lake called Lake Toplitz in early 1945. However, no official records of what the SS troops were doing at the lake or what was in the convoy was ever found. Then, in 1959 investigators recovered £700 million of counterfeit notes that Hitler had planned on using to sabotage Britain's economy from the lake. While multiple expeditions to the lake have found evidence of other Nazi activity, nothing has been officially extracted due to the dangerous depths of the lake. What about those multiple murder victims found around the lake who had connections to the Nazi testing station located at Lake Toplitz? Also, the tunnels found along the lake shores? So what else did the Nazi’s hide in Lake Toplitz?
