The Gospel for Everyone

Lane Widick and Jason Bybee

The Gospel for Everyone is about one thing: a conviction that the Good News of Jesus is good news for everyone! In Luke 2:10, the angel hailed the birth of Jesus as "good news of great joy that will be for all the people." We believe this news about Jesus is as relevant today as it was two thousand years ago, transcending every category we create for ourselves and for others. read less

The Master Story (plus resources from this entire series)
Welcome to Season 2, Episode 12 of the Gospel for Everyone. In today’s episode, we’ll wrap up our conversation on biblical worldview. For the last few episodes, we've been thinking about what it means to develop a biblical worldview. A worldview is the lens we use to make sense of the world. It's a systematic way of looking at things. And everyone has a worldview. So we've been talking about some of the major themes in a biblical worldview: creation and identity and covenant, just to name a few.In this episode, we will turn our attention to something that is really at the heart of a biblical worldview. A biblical worldview centers around the story of Jesus. All of these things we've discussed about creation and identity and covenant come together in a powerful way in the story of Jesus. He promises me a new identity as a new creation through a new covenant.  CLICK HERE -- LINK TO THE IMAGES WE MENTIONED IN THE EPISODERecommended resources on worldview:The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self: Cultural Amnesia, Expressive Individualism, and the Road to Sexual Revolution by Carl TruemanPhilosophical, historical analysis of how we ended up here.Pretty long, dense; has written a shorter version called Strange New WorldLive Your Truth and Other Lies: Exposing Popular Deceptions That Make Us Anxious, Exhausted, and Self-Obsessed by Alisa ChildersAlso recommended Childers podcast: The Alisa Childers PodcastFrequently discusses these kinds of issues, challenges progressive ChristianityChristianity and Wokeness: How the Social Justice Movement is Hijacking the Gospel -- and the Way to Stop It by Owen StrachanStrachan is a Bible scholar, analyzes the woke movement in light of Scripture. Anxious for Nothing
We are in the throes of an anxiety epidemic right now.  How can we deal with it?  Is there any help in sight?  Join Jason and Lane as they begin a multi-episode series on dealing with anxiety the way God shows us through Scripture.Key Verse: Philippians 4:4-7 (NKJV)Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.Questions:Today we began a new series focusing on God's wisdom for overcoming anxiety. Everyone experiences anxiety in their lives. But how would you rate your anxiety level right now? Higher, lower, about the same as always? Does it seem as if anxiety has increased over the last couple of years?Philippians 4:4-7 is the most highlighted Bible passage in Amazon's Kindle app. Read over this wonderful verse and talk about what really stands out to you.One of the root words for anxiety means "to squeeze tightly" or "to choke." Anxiety can sometimes feel this way, especially when it feels as if our circumstances are spinning out of control. But based on Philippians 4:4-7, we can always choose to be joyful and we can choose to be prayerful. Is this good news? To know that even when things seem "out of control," we always have the power to choose how we react to stress? How would you explain the difference between joy and happiness? Why do the biblical writers stress the importance of joy?Jason and Lane said, "Prayer is the most reliable path to peace." Do you agree? Have you experienced this to be true in your life?
