The podcast started from an Instagram account. The show used to have three cohosts, but former host Ester left Basically Famous in 2021. The program also once had a different name-Swiping Up. In 2023, the show changed its name.

Spencer and Wendy love to hear from their listeners. They give them advice on what's happening in their world. There's nothing better than getting honest and heartfelt advice from one's besties. Listeners may laugh, cry, and enjoy girl time when they listen to Basically Famous. Haters might disagree, but listeners may fear missing out on this podcast.
