This is Eric Stark with The Smart RVer Podcast, Delivering the smarts you need to enjoy the freedom of the RV Lifestyle without the fear of breaking down! Enjoying the RV Life: Eric and Alexis discuss how you can be prepared for an emergency on the road. This type of assurance and preparedness can give RVers the peace of mind they need when traveling. It’s vital to have a first aid kit whether you’re traveling with or without family. Things happen, so being well equipped can make a huge difference in feeling safe and knowing how to handle scary situations. Jase Medical Emergency Medications      Use Coupon Code & Save 10 Bucks "SmartFirstAid" My Medic RV First Aid Kits Staying On The Road: Eric discusses the fluctuations in the RV industry over the years, influenced by economic factors, fuel prices, wars, and interest rates. He highlights how the industry experienced a boom after 2008/09 but underwent a gradual decline in quality. The pandemic led to a surge in demand, but the industry faced challenges like employee turnover and quality issues. Eric suggests to enter maintenance mode due to the industry slowing down. He advises against buying new or used RVs at this time, expressing concerns about the industry's focus on efficiency and technology rather than addressing quality concerns. Instead, he recommend improving and fixing existing RVs, cautioning that selling a pandemic RV to buy a post-pandemic one may not solve underlying problems. The Next Stop: Eric and Alexis take a road trip to Seattle Washington where they highlight some of the must-see areas surrounding the city! They talk about the great outdoors and how to take advantage of every moment you can as an RVer. The proximity to the city can also carry a special opportunity for last-minute supplies you may have forgotten for your RV adventure. RV Destinations Magazine- RVdestinationsmagazine.com RV Envy: Eric tells us all about the “new” interstate battery that lives twice as long as other batteries! This is exciting for RVers because we all want to buy less and buy smart! RVers want to be independent and ready to go and they don’t want to be slowed down by the likes of a lame battery with a short life! Enjoying the RV Life: In this episode, Eric & Alexis give some pointers on how to party while RVing. Actually, they give some pointers about having small parties in the RV park. An RV Party can be with a group of your friends, or you can put something together in an RV Park and invite your neighbors. Everyone loves a good party, and there is no better place to have a party than in an RV. Get together with friends, family, and neighbors, and have a good time! Staying On The Road: Today everyone loves a flat-screen TV; there is no better screen to watch your favorite movie or show on, big and flat. Even though RV manufacturers seem to love the idea of providing a pretty awesome product, they tend to screw it up. Eric explains what to look for when replacing a Flat Screen TV in your RV if it breaks or falls off the wall. Not all flat-screen TVs should be mounted in an RV. The backing plates are not designed to take the beating an RV often provides while going down the road.  The Next Stop: Alexis takes us on an adventure to New Mexico to enjoy the annual Ballon Festival held in Albuquerque, usually held in October when the weather is perfect and the skies are clear. RV Destinations Magazine- RVdestinationsmagazine.com RV Envy: Eric explains the benefits of using premade plastic leveling blocks and the importance of leveling your RV. Today wood has become almost as expensive as plastic and can be a bit of a hassle to use. Wood is great but, plastic has made its way as the new wood replacement product. ↓ Episode 134 – It’s Time to Winterize Your RV, Lets Do It Now!
This is Eric Stark with The Smart RV’er Podcast, Delivering the smarts you need to enjoy the freedom of the RV Lifestyle without the fear of breaking down! Enjoying the RV Life: Today, Alexis and I will talk about something crucial for all you RV enthusiasts out there: winterizing your RV. Winter can be tough on your RV, and it's not just about protecting the freshwater system. There are other aspects to consider to ensure your RV stays in great shape during those cold months. Inspect the Seals and Roof: Check all the seals around windows, doors, and roof vents. Ensure they are intact and not cracked or damaged. Replace any seals showing wear and tear to prevent drafts and moisture from getting inside. Clean and Store Your RV Thoroughly: Give your RV a good cleaning, both inside and out. This will help prevent dirt and grime from causing damage during the winter months. Once it's clean, find a secure storage location for your RV if possible, away from the elements. Tire Care: Maintain proper tire pressure and consider using tire covers to protect them from the cold. Cold weather can cause tires to lose pressure, and keeping them properly inflated will prevent damage. Also, occasionally move your RV to avoid flat spots on the tires. Propane Tanks: Shut off the propane supply and make sure all appliances are off. If you're storing your RV for an extended period, it's a good idea to remove the propane tanks and store them in a safe place. Battery Maintenance: If you're not using a trickle charger or solar panels to keep your RV's battery charged, it's essential to remove the battery and store it in a warm, dry place. Cold temperatures can damage batteries. Interior Preparations: Empty out all perishable items from your refrigerator and pantry. Leave the refrigerator and freezer doors open to prevent mold and odors. Also, open all cabinet doors to promote air circulation and prevent moisture buildup. Water System: Drain your water tanks, water heater, and all water lines. You can use RV antifreeze to flush the water lines thoroughly to prevent freezing. Don't forget to drain and clean the black and gray water tanks too. Heating System: If you have an onboard heating system, make sure it's in good working condition. It'll help keep the inside of your RV from freezing during the winter. Rodent Control: Seal any openings or gaps where critters could enter your RV. Mice and other pests love to seek shelter in warm places during the winter. Regular Check-Ins: Even if your RV is in storage, it's a good idea to check on it periodically. Ensure that everything is in order and that there are no unexpected issues. Winterizing your RV properly can save you a lot of headaches and repair costs down the road. Remember, it's not just about protecting your plumbing; it's about preserving your entire RV for many more adventures to come. So, take the time to prepare your RV for winter, and you'll be all set to hit the road again when the weather warms up. Thanks for tuning in, and happy RVing! Staying On The Road:

This is Eric Stark with The Smart RV’er Podcast Delivering the smarts you need to enjoy the freedom of the RV Lifestyle without the fear of breaking down! Living the RV Life: In this podcast episode, Eric and Alexis discuss the tricks and tips for finding free camping spaces or campsites for RVers. They acknowledge that while many RVers are already familiar with these methods, some may be new to the concept or have never needed to find free camping spots before. The hosts share their experiences of needing to find a place to spend the night while on the road and emphasize the importance of feeling safe and secure in these locations. They mention that some options for free camping include Walmart parking lots (although not all Walmarts offer this), restaurant parking lots, hotel parking lots, and truck stops. They highlight the need to ask for permission before staying overnight and to be considerate by keeping the area clean and not causing any disturbances. The hosts also mention Cracker Barrel locations as potential options for RVers, as some are known to be friendly towards allowing overnight parking. They advise finding well-lit areas and taking precautions for security, such as having exterior lights and surveillance cameras. They conclude the episode by encouraging listeners to share their own RV-friendly locations with others through RV clubs and forums, as everyone is constantly looking for safe and convenient places to stay during their travels. Staying On The Road: Eric discusses his dislike for clutter and his habit of throwing things in a disorganized manner when working on projects or cleaning up. He emphasizes the importance of eventually cleaning up and organizing everything to avoid confusion and ensure easy access to tools and supplies. He then shifts the focus to RVs and explains why it's necessary to clean out unnecessary items regularly. Carrying around unused items adds weight to the RV, increases fuel consumption, and causes extra wear and tear. Eric shares examples of frustrating situations when disorganization hampers the process of finding essential items like a jack during a roadside emergency. He then emphasizes the benefits of keeping belongings organized, which makes tasks easier and prevents frustration. He also mentions the importance of maintaining organization when visiting service departments or dealerships to ensure the safekeeping of personal items. Eric concludes by suggesting thoroughly cleaning the RV at the beginning and end of each season to avoid accumulating unnecessary items and clutter. The Next Stop: Glamping, short for glamorous camping, is a popular trend that combines the experience of camping with luxury and comfort. It involves staying in unique and often upscale accommodations in outdoor settings. Glamping sites can be found in various locations, and they offer a range of options such as fancy tents, cabins, Conestoga wagons, and even converted structures like yurts or treehouses. Glamping provides a more comfortable and convenient camping experience compared to traditional camping. Instead of pitching a tent and sleeping on the ground, glamping accommodations often feature amenities like real beds, heating, air conditioning, and sometimes even en-suite bathrooms. This allows people to enjoy the beauty of nature without sacrificing comfort. There are several platforms, such as Glamping Hub, where you can find a wide selection of glamping spots. These websites provide information about different locations, amenities, and availability, making it easier for people to explore and book their glamping experiences. The appeal of glamping lies in the opportunity to have a unique and memorable getaway. It offers a change of pace and a chance to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life while still enjoying the comforts of modern living. Glamping can be a great option for those who want to experience...

This is Eric Stark with The Smart RV’er Podcast Delivering the smarts you need to enjoy the freedom of the RV Lifestyle without the fear of breaking down! Living the RV Life: Eric and Alexis talk about how to travel safely as a solo traveler, whether you are a male or a female. They share tips on how to stay connected with family and friends along the way and what to look for when you get to a new location. The best way to travel and have fun is always to know your surroundings and keep close to well-trodden trails.  Staying On The Road: Eric discusses with his listeners the importance of knowing how to ask for parts for your RV. Nothing is truly “standard” on an RV except that the tires are black. But besides that, you will usually need to know the model numbers on the appliances in your RV. RV techs cannot help you if you don’t help them, so take in some knowledge and maybe call before coming in and ask questions. If they’re worth their salt, they will help you locate model numbers and other information they need to look up and find parts for your RV.  The Next Stop: Alexis and Eric travel to Wall, South Dakota. They check out the famous drug store, Wall Drug. They take a tour of the small town and the many fun activities. They also talk about the places to catch a meal and the places you can stay while you're there. The Midwest has a lot to offer as far as history goes, so please consider traveling to this unique state.  RV Envy: Eric talks about upgrading your RV with amazing WIFI. Megnadyne makes a great internet system for anybody on the road for long amounts of time or short amounts of time. Getting a wifi system for your RV doesn't mean you have to be connected to social media or constantly be on call; it simply provides you with the reassurance that you have a way to reach out to family or friends with an emergency or just to let them know where you are and where you are going next!  Sunpro Mfg Freight Liner M2 & S2Rv Windshield Covers Youtube Magnadyne Wifi Internet Next Stop - Wall Drug - South Dakota
