Being Excellent To Each Other - A Resonance On Bill And Ted

Being Excellent To Each Other - A Resonance On Bill And Ted
Being Excellent to Each Other - a Resonance on Bill and Ted In this pt 2 episode, which follows hot on the heels of our Rumination on Generations, we wax nostalgic on Bill and Ted, their Excellent Adventure, and Bogus Journey. A generational touch stone itself, the first Bill and Ted was a fantasy ride full of optimism and hope. The idea that music could save the world, could create a harmonious existence and unite people was an inspiration, one we could use a little more of now. Today it seems people need a little boost, a bit of levity, and while we’re at it, perhaps whip a little love and compassion at ‘em at the same time. The joy, and positivity that the original movie exhibits, smoothly invites all watchers to enjoy the moment, live for our dreams, and simply “be excellent to each other”. So we chat about what the movie meant to us, what moments we remember most fondly and what we hope for the third installment, “Bill and Ted Face the Music”, which as of this writing, becomes available today in theaters and via on-demand services. This writer for one can’t wait. We’ll be watching with friends around the country and, while we can’t be in the same room, and we’re not heading out to the theatre, we very much intend to “party on dudes”. Ruminating On A Sad Song Ep 3
Ruminating on a Sad Song ep 3 We rejoin Mr Tom Reynolds in Chapter 3 of his work, I hate myself and want to die, “I'm Trying to Be Profound and Touching, but Really Suck at It”. If we needed anymore proof that this book is tongue in cheek this has to be it. While Reynolds seemingly paints all of these odes to loss and misery as comical, I can’t help but still feel that he wouldn’t have zeroed in without some amount of sympathy….I think we’ve looked at these past songs with empathy and sympathy, and dug in a little to the heart of things, but still enjoyed a laugh or two as well. Besides laughter is the best medicine, next to whiskey. This chapter had a HUGE playlist so we’ve chosen to just pick our favorites and address those. The full list for our Ruminators out there playing along is as follows: “Round Here” Counting Crows 1994 “Lucky man” Emerson Lake and Palmer 1971 “Beth” KISS 1976 “MacArthur Park” Richard Harris 1968 (donna summer 1978) “Don’t Cry Out Loud” Melissa Manchester 1978 “In the Year 2525” Zager and Evans 1969 “Same Old Lang Syne” Dan Fogelberg 1981 “The Rose” Bette Midler 1980 “Mandy” Barry Manilow 1974 Reflections: Twin Peaks-The Return observations, and impressions Ruminations: Wandering thoughts, ideas, and conversations that enjoy the  journey over the destinations Reminiscence: Tales of friendship, adventures, and the drinks along the way Resonance: Reviews and the like, over art of all kinds Twitter: Ruminations@FromTheRedRoom http://guillermotheivth.blogspot.com/ Facebook Ruminations from the Red Room Instagram www.instagram.com/FromTheRedRoom ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
