Our Editor's Take

The Parkins & Spiegel Show is a drive-time show on The Score SportsRadio 670 in Chicago. This is the podcast version of the radio show.

Podcast cohost Matt Spiegel has been with the station since 2009. He also hosts a baseball show named Hit & Run. Matt also fills in as a Cubs broadcaster. Danny Parkins teamed up on a show with Matt in 2017-18. Danny and Matt reunited on this podcast in 2022. That year, Danny and Matt were Marconi Radio Award finalists in the category of Major Market Personality of the Year.

Chicago fans looking for opinions on their favorite teams will find them on this podcast. The Chicago Bears and the NFL are year-round topics. Chicago is one of two cities with two baseball teams, so there is plenty of MLB as well. The hosts cover the highs and lows of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox. The Chicago Bulls may be far from the glory days of Michael Jordan, but the Bulls and the NBA always make news.

The Chicago Tribune's Dan Wiederer makes regular appearances on the Parkins & Spiegel Show to discuss the Bears. Football analyst and former Bear Patrick Mannelly is also a regular guest on the podcast. Baseball guests have included White Sox announcer John Schriffen and reporter Jon Morosi. The hosts also discuss Chicago controversies such as if Sammy Sosa belongs in the Cubs Hall of Fame.

Sometimes, people from the entertainment industry appear on the podcast. Actor Joe Mantegna, a Chicago native, has been on the show. Thomas Ian Nicholas has also been a guest. Nicholas played a Little Leaguer who pitches for the Chicago Cubs in the film Rookie of the Year. Another guest has been comedian Roy Wood Jr., a lifelong Cubs fan.

The Parkins & Spiegel Show podcast appears Monday to Friday. Episodes include individual segments as well as each hour of the daily podcast.
