Our Editor's Take

Who needs professional couples counseling when there's the Couples Therapy podcast? Andy Beckerman and Naomi Ekperigin offer their non-certified relationship advice on the show. As comedians and loving partners, the two try to help others-or at least make them laugh. Listeners hear from them and other entertainers in each episode.

Naomi is a comedian who also writes, acts, and produces. She's written for such popular series as Broad City and Great News. Naomi was also a regular guest performer on 2 Dope Queens and now appears on the television series Caucasia. Andy, her fiancé and cohost, is a comedy writer and podcaster who found himself in Los Angeles. He's written for Comedy Central and completed his first script for a feature film.

Andy and Naomi invite guests to assist them in answering listener questions in each episode. They also discuss their romantic escapades. In one podcast episode, actor Colton Haynes talks about his cat, Timothée Chalameow. The three also discuss Colton's current dating life and homophobia in '80s Hollywood. They then help one caller "handle his scandal." The man is feeling frustrated by passive-aggressive behavior on social media.

Standup comedian Sabrina Jalees comes on another podcast episode to discuss her fertility journey. She discusses sustaining a healthy relationship and what traits distinguish healthy couples. Sabrina advises love notes and seeking a marriage counselor or family therapist.

Actor and comedian Rory Scovel joins the podcast to chat about his hobbies and marriage. He shares how he started painting and his favorite parts of fatherhood. The three then respond to a question about parenting. River Butcher, a fellow writer, actor, and standup comic, comes on another episode. The hosts discuss how they formed a close friendship with him during the pandemic. River tells a caller it's OK to dislike cuddling. Not everyone expresses or receives love similarly, he says, and it's best to be honest with a partner.

Couples Therapy serves comedy fans seeking non-expert relationship advice. With hilarious guests and weekly episodes, the podcast offers laughter and support.

Epidemiologists Zoe Spieler and Michelle Dressner

Epidemiologists Zoe Spieler and Michelle Dressner
You know that we are Covid-safe folks and advocate for a society that should take the Coco seriously, but there's so much propaganda, misinformation, ignorance and such around the Novel Coronavirus that we've found it very difficult to navigate the world in 2023 and know how to live in a way that protects us and others from a virus that can potentially fuck up your body permanently.A bit ago, we said offhandedly in an intro that if we had any listeners that were epidemiologists, we'd love to ask some questions about what is safe to do these days. See a movie? Go grocery shopping? Leave the house? We have a VERY literate audience, and a number of epidemiologists listen apparently because we got a number of offers. The first person to reach out was one of our guests today epidemiologist Zoe Spieler, a listener, and her friend Michelle Dressner, another epidemiologist.Even though initially, they were just going to answer our questions privately, a lot of listeners reached out and wanted to know the answers as well, so we asked Zoe and Michie if they'd mind us recording the convo and putting it out as a bonus, and they were game! First of all, HUGE THANKS to them for doing this, and second of all, GIANT THANKS TO THEM because not only did they answer our questions, but Zoe and Michie did a broad survey of the scientific literature first! We get into the current state of the scientific consensus around the Coco, what are the current suggested safe procedures, and a lot of other stuff, including why so many people have lost their goddamn minds these days! Hopefully this will help you as you decide what to do for the holidays!Support the show on Patreon (two extra exclusive episodes a month!) or pre-order a new t-shirt or get a discounted old shirt!
