Our Editor's Take

The Dr. Drew Podcast is an inquisitive show that interviews diverse, accomplished people. Host Dr. Drew Pinsky is an internist, addiction specialist, and expert at answering questions. He is the renowned host of Ask Dr. Drew, Dr. Drew After Dark, and The Adam & Dr. Drew Show. Dr. Drew answers questions on this podcast, too, but he's often the one asking them.

On the podcast, Dr. Drew interviews Joan Lunden about getting older and Perez Hilton about fatherhood. The physician quizzes neuroscientists and cardiologists. What might surprise listeners is how many comedians he interviews. Dr. Drew asks Chris Distefano about his career change. Chris was a physical therapist for kids with challenges. After work, he'd spend hours in comedy clubs to get a few minutes onstage. Chris joined Guy Code and Girl Code on MTV, which created a conflict of interest. Moms of his patients began recognizing him from TV. Chris had to choose one career.

Chris expressed fear about quitting to one patient, a seven-year-old with cerebral palsy. The boy's response was so affecting that Chris left and cried. He's since starred in game shows, sitcoms, and comedy specials. Chris is a prolific podcaster who sells out comedy tours. Dr. Drew expresses admiration. He also shares what bothers him about Chris' decision. Dr. Drew then reveals what he fantasizes about. It's not what podcast listeners might expect.

Dr. Emily Morse visits the podcast. She is a doctor of human sexuality who has worked with Dr. Drew. They talk about her books, her podcast, and what they call a "sexual recession." Emily says pornography, OnlyFans, and prostitutes have reduced intimate relationships. She thinks fear of rejection makes virtual relationships appealing. Dr. Drew has an interesting response. He says he only discovered in his sixties that women like feeling chosen. He believes asking women out and getting turned down can still be positive. It could increase the woman's happiness.
