More Than a Story

Derek R Henig

Welcome to More Than a Story, where each episode is an original short story… and a little more. At the end of each episode, I’ll talk briefly about an idea you can take away from it. Something to inspire you or to make you think. Ideas to help us take a look at our own stories so we can make them truly wonderful. My name is Derek Henig, and it’s my mission here--and in everything I do--to fill your day with something good. So, without further ado, I hope you enjoy… More Than a Story! read less

The Invisible Friends

The Invisible Friends
(ADVENTURE) - Sam has a unique connection to a group of invisible friends, and they’re annoying him. He’s a senior in High School and they are trying to convince him to skip school, leave home, and go on an adventure to save a young girl; someone they say has the potential to change the world. If he goes, it’ll most likely trigger his mother to bring him back to the doctors for evaluation like she did when he was eight. If he stays, a young girl will suffer, and the world might suffer as well…   If you enjoyed the story, please consider leaving a review and subscribing. Thanks!   Today’s episode is sponsored by Audible.  Want to learn more about this concept of the Mastermind in Napoleon Hill’s book Think & Grow Rich—as discussed in this episode’s takeaway idea? Well, now you can with this episode’s sponsor:  Audible! Audible is full of audiobooks of every genre, podcasts, and audible originals. Thanks to their sponsorship, you can get a free one-month subscription, including a credit for a free audiobook by going to www.audibletrial.com/morethanastory . I’ve had an Audible subscription for years now, and I listen to books and Audible Originals while I’m at the gym, on a run, cooking dinner, and going on long car rides. I love using audiobooks to get me through some of the mundane tasks like grocery shopping too. I get done what needs to get done, all while listening to something like Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.!     Website: https://theroamingscholar.com/more-than-a-story-podcast/   Facebook:  http://www.facebook.com/morethanastorypod   Instagram:  http://instagram.com/morethanastorypodcast   Youtube:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp4yOQjGC0Zt8ZgvbnIuWbA/

The Machine
(SCI-FI) - Barry’s normal morning routine is quickly steered off course by an impossible scene. Cars are blocking his path on the highway, but it isn’t the normal traffic. These cars are all empty—running, and placed in drive, but empty. Soon, Barry finds himself on a search for answers—fueled by the persistence of his closest friend, Rachel—and what they find is beyond what either expects…   If you enjoyed the story, please consider leaving a review and subscribing. I’ve had an Audible subscription for years now, and I listen to books and Audible Originals while I’m at the gym, on a run, cooking dinner, and going on long car rides. I love using audiobooks to get me through some of the mundane tasks like grocery shopping too. I get done what needs to get done, all while listening to something like The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. A personal favorite of mine all about making small, minor tweaks in your life, that accumulate to massive changes. I highly recommend it as it’s a book I can listen to on repeat. Thanks to our sponsor, you can get a free one-month trial of Audible, which includes a free book download. Just go to www.audibletrial.com/morethanastory  Again, I recommend you check out The Compound Effect!   Website: https://theroamingscholar.com/more-than-a-story-podcast/   Facebook:  http://www.facebook.com/morethanastorypod   Instagram:  http://instagram.com/morethanastorypodcast   Youtube:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp4yOQjGC0Zt8ZgvbnIuWbA/
Mother Midnight

Mother Midnight
(HORROR) - Mother Midnight comes to you in the night. She searches your mind for what you want. You'll certainly get it, what you desired, but the price you'll pay will leave you begging for her to stop, to leave you alone, to help you no more. There's nothing to be afraid of, though. It's just a kid's cautionary tale. A message to be careful of what you wish for, and to take responsibility for what goes wrong in your life. It's just a cautionary tale...   If you enjoyed the story, please consider leaving a review and subscribing. Thanks!   Today’s episode is sponsored by Audible.  You can go to audibletrial.com/morethanastory and sign up for a FREE one-month subscription to Audible, which includes one free download.  I’ve been an Audible subscriber for years, and I love listening to audiobooks when I work out, run, go food shopping, or cook dinner. It’s also an essential road trip companion! And Audible isn’t just audiobooks either. They have podcasts, exclusive Audible Originals, and more. You will be entertained, and you can learn new things along the way. I recommend The Practicing Mind in this episode, but go where your heart leads you. Other favorites of mine are The Compound Effect and The 4-Hour Work Week.
