In 2013, the movie Springsteen & I came out. The documentary reviewed Bruce's career by talking to fans. It also used Springsteen photos and videos taken by the fans. This innovative movie changed the trajectory of Jesse Jackson's podcasting career. At the time, Jackson worked hard on producing podcasts about Doctor Who and Castle. But the film motivated him to create Set Lusting Bruce: The Bruce Springsteen Fan Podcast.
As a Springsteen fanatic, the film inspired him as it focused on the fans alongside the artist. Jackson felt that there were so many similar stories out there to explore, and he wanted to be the one to find them. So he started Set Lusting Bruce: The Bruce Springsteen Fan Podcast. It turns out he was right. He's been publishing episodes twice a week since 2015, and he is nowhere near completing this project.
According to the host, there are two types of people. The first type sees Bruce Springsteen perform live and thinks that was a pretty good show. And the second type thinks that was great. But now, they need to sell everything they own, get on the road, and follow this musician. Jackson puts himself as the second type. His love affair with Springsteen started in 2001. He talks about his own story on Set Lusting Bruce: The Bruce Springsteen Fan Podcast.
This is Jackson's story with Springsteen, but he learns others' stories in the podcast. He talks to a different guest each episode to reveal how they first fell in love with the musician. They discuss their childhood musical influences and the concerts they attended. The guests describe how Springsteen has affected their lives and contributed to them.
