Chris Huriwai
I was luckily enough this week to interview Chris Huriwai from Aotearoa (so-called New Zealand) Chris is an activist, content creator, co-founder of the Aotearoa liberation league and three-time street unicycle world champion. Chris also works with the vegan society and he is the co-producer and main narrator of the recent documentary film MILKED that takes a targeted looked at the New Zealand dairy industry. It came out in November last year and has already taken out awards at the Germany international film festival, the IndieFEST film awards and the Spotlight Documentary film awards. And even received a rave from James Cameron who called it “A powerful wake up call that the world is getting milked” Chris and I talked about online activism, bringing humour into the conversation, vegan content on Tik Tok, YouTube and Facebook. We also touched on decolonalising diets and practicing intersectional veganism. Connect with Chris : https://linktr.ee/chrishuriwaiCheck out MILKED: https://milked.film/aboutAotearoa Liberation league: https://www.all.org.nzCheck out Chris's Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@vegansocietynzMaori veganism: https://faunalytics.org/exploring-indigenous-maori-veganism/Roots of veganism and the failure to recognise plant-based practices in BIPOC communities - https://ffacoalition.org/articles/history-of-veganism/Check out my YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZm8CNy5euW5vxV-1KyeSxQ/featuredYou can find The Podcast online here: https://maycontaintracesofsoy.com/Follow May Contain Traces of Soy on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/maycontaintracesofsoyFollow May Contain Traces of Soy on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/maycontaintracesofsoy/And review and rate the podcast here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/may-contain-traces-of-soy/id1504751067 Hosted on Acast.
