There are some amazing braiders out there that make some gorgeous designs but they may not have taken the training to understand the chemical reactions that happen with coloring, for example. If something goes sideways, they may not know what to do.Here are some things you can look for when researching a stylist:Does she have a specialty? Is there something consistent across the board that you can see where her strengths are?Is there a consultation you can take advantage of to get to know them and talk about your hair goals?How can they fit into your haircare team?Do they ask what you want, what’s going on with your hair, and what your goals are?If you have a bad experience with a stylist but you didn’t do your research about what they’re good at and whether they’re going to actually care about the health of your hair, it’s not all on them. Join me, follow, and share.
