On the fourth Gansu Ultramarathon, a new course was used that left runners frozen on a mountain, and coined the name of China's Death Marathon. Veryovkina cave is worlds deepest cave at over 7,000 feet deep. It's only natural that in the exploration of a cave that deep, accidents happened. In 1974, on the mountain Peak Lenin, an all women climbing team froze on a mountain. The eight women were lead by Elvira Statayeva, and she was one of the most climbers in the Soiet Union at the time. in 2015, six men entered Cascade cave and two would be left behind and trapped by rising water. The men were facing rising water and trapped at the bottom of the cave. In 2014, a team of 5 Finnish divers attempted to dive the entire length of Plura Cave.  Their diving expedition was meant to be a successful first captured on film.   They started at the Plura entrance instead of the usual Stein cave entrance.  Disaster struck when thinks started going wrong and those who survived barely made it out alive.
