With nearly 60years of professional experience between them across the world in Premier League, International Rugby, AFL and consulting in a plethora of other sports and industries; two old bulls of the performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation world: Darren Burgess and Jason Weber catch up over a brew and discuss all things Sports Performance.
Two Coaches & a Coffee is a podcast that focuses on strength and conditioning from a science-based standpoint. Its hosts are two veteran conditioning coaches who live and work in Australia. Each has over two decades of experience in athletics and a PhD in their respective fields. Anyone curious about conditioning might find useful information contained herein. One does not have to be a coach or athlete to enjoy this podcast. Listeners only need curiosity and a desire to learn.
The hosts and creators of this podcast are Darren Burgess and Jason Weber. Both have worked in professional athletics for decades as coaches and trainers. The majority of their experience comes from working in soccer and rugby. Burgess began his athletic career in 2004. He was the Head of High Performance for the Port Adelaide Football Club during this time. He would go on to work for well-known soccer teams, such as Liverpool and Arsenal, as a performance coach. Burgess is also a director at Elite Performance Partners, a fitness consulting company.
Weber began working in athletics in the late 1990s. From 1998 to 2000, he was the Head of Strength and Conditioning for the Queensland Reds rugby team. Weber was the High Performance Manager for the Fremantle Football Club for over a decade. He also is the founder of SpeedSig. The organization helps enhance people's athletic careers with elite programs and training. Two Coaches & a Coffee offers each host's perspective.
An excellent aspect of this podcast is how the hosts explain the science to listeners. They do not expect everyone to be familiar with all of the scientific terms they are discussing. The hosts take great care in explaining these terms in plain English before getting into a topic.
There is a strong focus on individuality on the show. When discussing whether weight training does more harm or good, Burgess and Weber note that not every body type is the same.
