Reinventing My 50s: Just Say Yes! How I Crushed Self-Doubt and Became a Silver-Haired Midlife Model
If someone asked you to model bathing suits and lingerie in your 40-something, plus-sized body and silver hair, would you do it? Would you kick limiting societal beliefs about how a midlife body should look to the curb, lean in and do it anyway? Or would you think of a hundred reasons why you shouldn’t and let the opportunity pass you by?In the case of Reinvention Rebel Rachel Peru, she leaned in, quieted her naysayer mind, and created a whole new, empowered life.Rachel celebrates her body just the way it is, reminding us that every body is a beautiful body in all our exquisite shapes and sizes. She’s built body confidence, not just in herself but others too.And she started a fabulous podcast, Out of the Bubble, that celebrates stories of empowered midlife women finding their voice and groove, expanding their lives in kickass ways.In this encouraging, I-can-do-anything interview, I love what Rachel shares about:✅ How she found midlife confidence and went for it✅ Why it's so important to say Yes to our dreams, no matter our age✅ How curiosity helped kickstart her modeling career at 46 (you'll love her story!)✅ How she shifted her mindset to one of self-acceptance✅ How skydiving helped increase her comfort zone✅ What she learned from sharing others’ stories on her podcast and what inspires her most about midlife womenAnd that’s just a tiny piece of what makes Rachel a fierce Reinvention Rebel. She shares abundant midlife wisdom in uplifting ways. I can't wait for you to listen and soak up her expansive ideas about what midlife can be for any of us. Reinvention at 50+: Learning How to Show Up for Yourself is a Key Ingredient

Reinvention at 50+: Learning How to Show Up for Yourself is a Key Ingredient
Do you know that showing up for yourself is a key ingredient in your midlife reinvention secret sauce?Ever notice that paying more attention to your own needs in midlife (aka showing up for yourself) can contribute to deeper happiness and satisfaction? When was the last time you showed up for yourself - and made space for your dreams and desires to be a priority, not a "someday" activity?Showing up for ourselves is at once important and empowering, and often hard to do. The drumbeat of others' needs can drown out our own if we let them. But the benefits of showing up for ourselves shouldn't be downplayed. In fact, they should be celebrated. When we show up for ourselves and lean into our needs, we acknowledge that we matter.Getting the reinvention process going - that process of stepping into our own and becoming a Reinvention Rebel - starts with us identifying what we want. It means turning the lens to focus on ourselves.I'm excited to kick off season 4 with this solo episode that shines a light on why showing up for ourselves is so important. It's about why you should add showing up for yourself to your reinvention sauce. In this solo episode I share:✳️ What I learned about myself this summer when it comes to showing up ✳️ Why showing up for ourselves is so important✳️ 3 questions for you to noodle on about showing up for yourself and how you can get startedAnd lots of other cool insights. Think of it as a grown-up post-summer book report. 😂It's the perfect way to kick off season 4 with new opportunities for our personal growth and development. We're all back in the saddle after summer, let's re-focus on our biggest reinvention dreams and start to make them happen! Putting yourself first is a start. Are you ready to add showing up for yourself to your Reinvention Rebels secret sauce? This key ingredient will make all the difference.  Lean in and listen to this season's kickoff episode. Reinventing 50: The Show Must Go On – From Opera Singer to Mental Fitness Coach with Franzie Jean-Louis
How does a burnt-out opera singer reinvent herself as someone who uplifts souls and helps people shine? An interesting journey of self-development full of twists and turns, that's how.50-year young Franzie Jean-Louis is living on purpose in "rebelicious" ways! The self-proclaimed Mental Fitness Coach is on fire, sharing her light and radiance in the world and helping other people find their inner light too.But it wasn't always this way. Franzie dreamed of making it big in the opera world, yet struggled with perfectionism and "getting it right." So much so that by 22, she'd lost the desire to perform.Humbled and unsure, she slowly carved out a new path, making discoveries about herself along the way.Hers has been an unfolding, multi-year reinvention journey to arrive at her current destination. Each step of the way uncovered a piece of the puzzle in finding her true purpose. Along her path, she learned to trust her inner wisdom, overcome perfectionism, and live with joy. We had the best conversation about reinvention and her evolution. I love what she shares about:✅ Why she was burnt out as an opera singer by 22 and what she learned about herself✅ How perfectionism thwarted her opera career✅ Why it’s important to build a “go with the flow” muscle to combat perfectionism✅ How she missed the step of “just being Franzie” and the impact that had✅ Why we need to listen to the clues that are in our reinvention path ✅ How focusing on others, instead of herself, helped move her forward and nurture compassion✅ Why we should pay attention to those things we can do with ease✅ How we can improve our mental fitness daily to remain in the driver's seat of wellness✅ Why our mindset matters as we reinvent ourselvesAnd so many more insights and nuggets of wisdom! This episode will inspire you about the possibilities that exist within you already. Franzie proves that midlife women are only getting started. That we can reinvent ourselves at any age or any stage, no matter our circumstances.Lean in, listen and soak up her immense wisdom and then consider how you can flex your mental fitness muscles to reinvent yourself too!Connect with Franzie:LinkedIn: Franzie Jean-LouisInstagram: @franziecoachingFacebook: Franzie Jean-Louis Franzie's Book - Potential is BoundlessFranzie's Music on SoundcloudMentioned in the episode:✅ Kim Boudreau Smith episode✅ Elaine Battles episode✅ Ellen Feldman Ornato episodePlease Share What You LovedYour feedback means everything to me! Reinventing Entrepreneurship - Innovation, Improvisation & Figuring S**t out at 61 with Ellen Feldman Ornato
What kind of reinvention magic can we create in our 60s?What if we leaned into our inner voice, trusted our gut, and created something that added value to the world in fun and inspiring ways? And what if that creation included working side by side with our best friend to help women find their empowered voices through comedy improv?Such is the awakened and adventurous reinvention journey of 61-year young Ellen Feldman Ornato. This fierce, fabulous and empowered Reinvention Rebel knows a thing or two about reinvention. Like many of us, Ellen has reinvented herself many times as an adult. But her current reinvention as co-owner of Bolder Company (don't you just love this name?!) is definitely her best and most fulfilling. How cool is it to have an expansive Reinvention Rebels mindset where age is simply a number, not a limit? Where new possibilities abound if we seek them out?  Where we can keep on dreaming and making those goals a reality, along the way uncovering our wisdom and a deep awakening about how we shine? There are so many nuggets of wisdom and deep insights in this episode. I love what Ellen shares about:✅ How having fun and leaning into her non-linear career path helped lay the groundwork for her current reinvention✅ Why consistent action is key to moving forward with our reinvention dreams✅ How midlife women can build in more fun and develop their self-expression muscle✅ Why "what are you afraid of?" is a key question to ask yourself as you reinvent✅ How you can spark joy through building new, creative muscles✅ Why improv is a gateway to self-expression and helps us find our authentic voice✅ How we can use improv as a way to elevate and support one another✅ Why women need to learn to find their bold voices and let them out to help change the world.Ready for a big dose of inspiration to fuel your midlife reinvention path? Running to Reinvent: Newbie Runner at 55, Global Marathoner at 71 with Mary Newell

Running to Reinvent: Newbie Runner at 55, Global Marathoner at 71 with Mary Newell
What if at 71 you felt the strongest and most empowered you've felt in your body, EVER?It's possible as my guest, Reinvention Rebel Mary Newell, can attest. At 71-years young, Mary is vibrant, healthy, athletic and strong. So much so that she's run in marathons around the world and has no plans to stop. Ever.Even cooler? She didn't start running until she was 55, proving it's never too late to start, to reimagine, to reinvent ourselves.Growing up, Mary was the quintessential bookworm. While her siblings were enjoying athletics, she had her head in a book, soaking up knowledge. As an adult, she struggled with her weight and never imagined running could be for her. That is, until one serendipitous day at the gym she upped her speed walking on the treadmill to a light jog. That tiny action changed everything, literally the trajectory of her life. This episode is brimming with wisdom! I love what Mary shares about:✳️ How she went from a newbie runner at 55 to running in global marathons at 71✳️ Why we have to set aside time in order to reinvent ourselves✳️ How she stopped making limiting assumptions about her life and the new possibilities that afforded her✳️ Why it's so important to build community as we age ✳️ How being part of the running community (aka her reinvention team), has played a pivotal role in her longevity✳️ Why there's a lesson to be learned in everything we do and try✳️ How we can nurture and feel great about our changing bodies, no matter our age and so much more! You can't help but see new possibilities for your own life after listening to Mary's story. She reminds us that we each possess the possibility to learn, grow and thrive as we age, each in our own unique way. Recipe for Reinvention: Reinventing Yourself Means Learning to Let Go

Recipe for Reinvention: Reinventing Yourself Means Learning to Let Go
What's possible when you lean into your dreams, take action and then let go?Ever notice that things unfold in a simpler (often less stressful!) way? That when we're willing to make forward progress AND trust things are moving in our direction, we can get a lot further than when we try to control every step of the way? (I'm a recovering control freak myself. You too?)Letting go can be tough. It's human nature to want to control things. To try and shift things in the direction of our dreams.  On our timetable. But things hardly ever work out that way. In fact, we often end up expelling more energy than if we learned to let go and trust in the first place. If only it was that simple! But it is possible to make forward progress and learn to let go.In this episode, I share about how you can learn to let go to support your reinvention dreams.  Highlights include:✳️ Why letting go is so important in our personal development journey✳️ How trying to control things leads to frustration and lackluster results✳️ How leaning in and listening to our inner wisdom can help us realize our dreams✳️ How I learned to let go of control (and move toward my dreams with joy (and so much less anxiety) ✳️ My before and after "letting go" stories and the powerful lessons I learned about myself✳️ The 3 key ingredients you need to help you let go and realize your dreams more easily! and so much more wisdom and food for thought. If you're noodling over the possibility of reinventing yourself or you're already moving forward, try these three ingredients on for size.Mentioned in this episode:1.  Introducing Reinvention Rebels - This was my first episode back in Season 1 when I shared a taste of how I ended up hosting the podcast - my inspiration and some fun facts about me that led me here. 2. How I Reinvented My 50s, 60s & 70s to Manifest My Dreams with Janet Luongo
What would be possible if we reinvented ourselves in our 50s, 60s, AND 70s?According to 72-year young Reinvention Rebel Janet Luongo, just about anything! This energetic artist and activist should know. She's not only reinvented herself multiple times later in life, but she's also honed her reinvention skills over many years. Can you imagine seeing yourself exhibiting your artwork in Paris and then fearlessly making it happen? Yep, she did that. And writing a memoir about a year in your life at 18 and getting it published at 72? She did that too!Reinventing herself many times over has yielded impactful lessons in self-empowerment, resilience, courage, and a desire to contribute her time and talents to make the world a better place. The common denominator: she has learned how to manifest her dreams, turning her ideas into reality. She reminds us that we can do that too! I love what Janet shares about:- how she's manifested her desires in every decade- why she quit her job during a critical time to reinvent herself- how trusting her gut led to a host of new opportunities- why experimentation and self-discovery are important parts of the reinvention process- how we can rekindle our dreams, no matter how many years have gone by- why patience is key to reinventing ourselves (it almost never happens overnight!)- how she continues to reinvent herself at 72 in inspiring waysand so much more! This episode is so juicy, so joyful, so full of ideas to ignite your own thinking about what's possible as you age.We can reinvent ourselves at any age or any stage and Janet epitomizes just how possible this is.
