Our Editor's Take

What The Football with Suzy Shuster and Amy Trask is a podcast focusing on the most thrilling stories in the NFL each week. While game recaps and player stats are part of the program, they are not the primary focus. This show is more interested in reporting on the off-camera business in the NFL. This means discussing owners, coaching staff, and other things that impact the game outside of actual game time. Thankfully, the two podcast hosts are both well-versed in these topics.

The hosts of this podcast are Suzy Shuster and Amy Trask. Both women have been a part of football for several decades, albeit in different ways. Shuster began her career in 1997 as a producer for ESPN's SportsCenter. After spending several more years as a producer, she began a new role as a reporter for FSN in 2000. Since then, Shuster has reported on the NBA for TNT and college football for ABC. As a sportswriter, she contributed to the Huffington Post on a regular basis from 2011 to 2017.

Podcast cohost Trask is a history-making football executive. She was the NFL's first-ever female CEO of a team. Among Raiders fans, Trask had the playful nickname "Princess of Darkness." Trask is a California native who became a Raiders fan while attending college. She became the Raiders' CEO in 1997 and held the position until 2013. Trask has been a football commentator for various media outlets, including CBS.

One of the most compelling things about this podcast is its interview segments. Each episode sees the hosts talking to someone who works in football or sports media. However, in many cases, these people do not often agree to interviews. Jim Nantz, a veteran football referee, is a prime example. As a result, football fans can learn about the game from new vantage points.

New installments of What The Football with Suzy Shuster and Amy Trask air on a rotating schedule. Each episode averages 45 minutes in length.
