It's Not About the Money: In Search of Grounded Fundraising

Heather Winchell and Andy Brennan

For us, ministry fundraising is the overflow of a deep sense of purpose. In “It’s Not About the Money”, we look past formulas, and explore both the nuance and the big picture of the fundraising journey. It’s not about tips, tricks, or clever phrasing. It’s about being grounded. Each episode focuses on an aspect of real life as a support-seeker. We hold space for both practice and theory. Join us as we explore the truth that, while the funding is essential, it’s not about the money.

23. Dr. Jolly Johnson on Identifying what Matters
One of the common refrains we hear in the work of fundraising is, "There just isn't enough time to do it all or to do it well." Our time and attention are precious resources. Our guest today, Dr. Jolly Johnson, found himself -- ironically -- with too much time on his hands and set out to develop a resource to use it well. He created the Choice City Planner first for himself but made it available to others as well. The Choice City Planner was created to help you identify and achieve what matters most so you can thrive and be a blessing. Do you feel overwhelmed by all the things you have to manage and accomplish? This planner was created to help you cut through the clutter and make progress towards the things that matter most.In our conversation with Jolly, we hit on what it looks like to identify what matters, make plans with intention, and build life-giving habits. These are timely skills that help us balance the elements of ministry and partnership development and stay emotionally healthy.Want a sneak peak at the planner? 21. VP Drew Remke on Partnership with the Local Church
We are kicking off season 3 with a timely discussion on the importance of launching into ministry with the holistic support of a local church - a body of believers that you are committed to and that know you well.  Joining us for this discussion is Drew Remke.Drew Remke is the Vice President of Church Partnerships for Pioneers USA. Pioneers is a global movement people seeking to glorify God by planting churches among the least reached places on the planet. Drews team works primarily with the 3400 sending and supporting churches of the Pioneers USA members. The team strives to create meaningful partnerships with local churches, to strengthen them in their attempts to fulfill their role in reaching the unreached. Before leading the Church Partnerships Team, Drew and his family spend 12 years in the Arabian Peninsula serving in different roles. He planted and pastored multiple international churches, established several small businesses, created leadership development programs for members of the organization as well as overseeing missionary teams across the Arabian Peninsula. Jordan is currently a student at Liberty University where she is completing her master’s in clinical and Mental Health Counseling. After 12 years on the field in which saw an average of 300 nights a year of overnight house guests, it became clear that counseling was not only a gift but a calling. Before serving overseas Drew and Jordan were founding members and staff of Redeemer Church of Lubbock, which has sent more than 75 people to the nations in its first 15 years of existence. It would be so helpful if you would take a moment to rate and review the show - thanks in advance!Have an idea for a guest or topic?
