The world wants her to behave as if she has not invested in herself and she says: “Guess, what I.CAN’T.FUX.WITH.YOU.NO.MORE!” If you are an Uppity Black Woman or if you are curious as to what Uppity Black Women think about, this show is for you. Episode 73: Routine Love Is Not an Extraordinary Ask
We fuxing with Black Mothers and Black Daughters today (or maybe not). The fractures between them are conversation topics covered in the annals of sociology, psychology, the chucch, and our homes. It is complex. The relationship with mine has been brought into full relief as I assess its shaky foundation.  Mired by the cultural mores that say to have a vagina makes one less than - whose fault is it when the women are complicit in their own demise. This question keeps coming up as I consider why I get more upset with the mothers than I do with the fathers. I know now why - it is because I look to the mothers for protection, yet I feel that it is the mothers who throw us to the wolves. It is counter to the story that is told of the innate "love" that a mother bestows upon her children. My experience has not been one of love, but rather one of care (and great care indeed) and feeding. Care is a foundational element for love, but it is not love. And because we have made the words care and love mean the same, the clash of the Black Mother and Black Daughter is unsurprising - our languages are different. I ask for a love that is routine, a love that sees me, acknowledges and protects. Routine love is not an extraordinary ask. But before we go there, we will celebrate the #ubt (Uppity Black Teens) in my life. Showing them routine love in myriad ways - including ensuring that their legs do not get itchier than they already are. Episode 72: Give Us Free
We not fuxing with Diddy. Just no, we will not make it about him. But rather, what is it that the #ubw needs to sever the ties in these abusive relationships? When I consider the through line of when it is that people are more open to having conversations related to domestic violence against women, specifically Black Women, it is when the victim of the abuse, be it physical, emotional, verbal, or financial, speaks truth about it. Consider the abuse experienced by Rihanna (Chris Brown), Meghan Thee Stallion (Torey Lanez), Reesa Teesa (Legion), Cassie (that ninja 1), myself (that ninja 2), the ties that bind sever when the truth is told about it. But what happens after Sis speaks truth? Who has opened up their hands and their hearts to support Sis in feeling whole again. Episode 71: Robberies and Abominations

Episode 71: Robberies and Abominations
I guess we were not fuxing with Mother's Day this year? With a recognition that this holiday can be painful for many, this particular Mother's Day was a reflective one for me. In this season in which I challenge all the things in which I have been trained to believe, the issue that continues to rear its head is the value (or lack thereof) that is placed on my motherhood based on my attachment  to a man. Meaning, while I consider myself an amazing mother - I mean, the Uppity Black Girl in my training program (#ubg), is beyond reproach. Yet, in this moment, those closest to me are unable to acknowledge my excellence in single mother parenting because culture will not allow it. Culture has so trained them to think that single mothering is an abomination - putting it on the level of incest and mass murder.  So what is a #ubw to do. Nothing. This is a matter that is easily solved. It is unnecessary to look outward to know what my value is.  REFERENCES IN TODAYS EPISODEMame Coumba Bang - Speak Up@marriageteachablemomentsHelp A Sister Out // Mother's Day at Change Church // Dr. Dharius Daniels5 Things All Women Can Learn from Abigail in the BibleWhy are African women more at risk of violence? Episode 70: The Rest Is Sacred
May 10 2024
Episode 70: The Rest Is Sacred
We fuxing with rest, in all its forms, because #ubw is exhausted. We are literally waiting to exhale. And if you are a #ubw of a certain age, you are most likely living the movie: Waiting to Exhale. The deep breaths continue. When we do back to back episodes related to the mistreatment, the humbling, the disdain, the disrespect, the persecution - the list continues (MISOGYNOIR).... we get tired. So today we focus on the things that  rejuvenate us, and we fuxung with the seven forms of rest - and all of them are critical to our well being. Leave it to a #ubw to have written THE book on sacred rest. Let me correct that, and put some respek on a Sisters name. It was DR. Saundra Dalton-Smith's book, Sacred Rest  Recover Your Life, Renew Your Energy, Restore Your Sanity that outlined these forms. For the uninitiated like myself, the Seven Forms of Rest are: Mental CreativeSocial SpiritualPhysical  (Active & Passive)Sensory Emotional Certainly the Sistas coming to Dr. Dalton's office, displayed every type of "#ubw is tired and stressed" illness. I am certain the common refrain Dr. Dalton heard was: Dr. Dalton, I'm exhausted. I feel like that is the catch phrase I hear from my homegirls, on repeat. It is also something that I am saying to them, on repeat (a b'tch is so fuxing tired, she goes to bed at the hair salon). It's not the tired associated with running marathons, but it is the tiredness associated with the external assaults, the draining requirements, the constant battles to be ourselves. All a #ubw wants to do is watch Amanda Seales' guide to fux-boys, chill with my homegirls, and curse a n*gga out from time-to-time (cursing n*ggas out from time to time IS a form of emotional rest - who knew!)REFERENCES IN TODAYS EPISODEGoddess Atete - WorthinessWaiting to Exhale (on Prime)Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith, Sacred Rest  Recover Your Life, Renew Your Energy, Restore Your Sanity Alisha Acquaye,   Why Is Exhaustion So Normalized for Black Women?Amanda Seales' Guide to Fux BoysIf you are an Uppity Black Woman, ready to say: I.Can't.Fux.With.You! Episode 69: What Do We Have to Do to Get the Red One Too?
May 2 2024
Episode 69: What Do We Have to Do to Get the Red One Too?
My therapist tells me that I take a great deal of deep breaths during our sessions. I know why - its exhausting  navigating the world as a card carrying member of the #ubw club. The people are out in full force, letting us know that misogynoir is here to stay, so my Sisters, be ready. From Amanda Seales, to whom so much disdain is pointed, to Marilyn Mosby, looking at potentially 40 years for some BullSh*t, to Angel Reese wearing rags in an empty room when introduced to the world as a member of the WNBA, to me, whose cultural mores still aim to hem me up, even when I no longer wear the title of "child" or the "exalted" wife. To say a b*tch is ti-red, does not capture it accurately. The through line of all of these is a Black Woman who lives in truth. Amanda says the things that Black folks playing "palatable" are not going to like - including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, colorism, and fux-boys. Marilyn Mosby had the audacity to move forward with prosecuting the six police officers who killed Freddie Grey in 2015. The audacity of this #ubw to seek justice for a Black Man during the time period when it was free reign to kill us (we had a respite back in 2020/2021 - its back to free reign for anyone confused about our current time period). Angel Reese, dared claim she was a beast on the basketball court (she is), and when her team did not take the top spot and she felt that sting emotionally, she was punished, because of course, #ubw cannot display a range of feelings - ya'll not ready for it. Well, what is a #ubw to do - keep fuxing talking truth - despite the punishment. Episode 68: An Inordinate Amount?
Apr 26 2024
Episode 68: An Inordinate Amount?
We fuxing with lust today, well tangentially fuxing with lust. What we really fuxing with is #ubw liberation and empowerment, and actually saying fux that definition of lust as "disordered." In my God girl and Goddess girl ways, I often find myself in conflict with some tenets of the Catholic Church. A recent homily that focused on the "Seven Deadly Sins," spent an inordinate amount of time highlighting the "deadly" sin of lust as the most damaging to humanity. The dictionary definition of lust is: enjoyment of an inordinate amount of sexual pleasure. Hmmm? What is an inordinate amount? Without that definition, anything pleasurable, whether obtained through sexual activity or otherwise, becomes taboo, suppressed, and denied. When I examine this suppression pre pole journey (every #ubw needs a spin around the pole) and now, it is not coincidental that the pleasure found in sensual body movement and watching the sensual body movement of other women, has integrated itself with other aspects of my life - and the people feel it. Thus, I am able to see with clarity it is the accentuation of my femininity and sexuality that draws the people in. So, if what we have been doing from the beginning - minimizing the pleasurable things - do you know what are the "pleasurable" things that can take you to that next level up? Is it that slim gold bracelet on your delicate ankle on a hot summer day while you wear your strappy sandals? The flutter you feel when  you slightly cross those ankles, and see that bracelet. That feeling that is evoked, and you just know - can't nobody fux with you. Imagine for 40+ years you have denied yourself this joy all because this expression is tied to premarital sexual pleasure. I know...the connection is simply bizarre. But that is what the Chuuch said: Ankle bracelet = Whore. Sis, ain't it wild you could have been a bad b'tch this whole time?REFERENCES IN TODAYS EPISODEQueen Yaa Asantewa - Goddess of Leveling Up Encyclopedia Britannica, Seven Deadly Sins, Last Accessed April 25, 2024 Monique Moultrie, Passionate and Pious, Religious Media and Black Women’s SexualityBlackfeminisms.com, On The Church and Black Women SexualityChidinma Chisom Unigwe, Anklets Are To Women What Sex Is To Prostitutes… But Who Made The Rule?If you are an Uppity Black Woman, ready to say: I.Can't.Fux.With.You! Episode 67: So Fuxing Dangerous
Apr 19 2024
Episode 67: So Fuxing Dangerous
We fuxing with rage and pleasure today. This rage card keeps showing up and this rage indeed is warranted. The way the world comes at the #ubw, it is a wonder we have not all ended up in the clink. Instead we have trained ourselves to suppress these feelings and move forward with plastic smiles. We need no physician to tell us that suppression of feeling will not end well. The reinforcement of the suppression of true feeling bleeds into all aspects of our lives. Thus the version the world receives of us is one that is a lie, one that is not trustworthy, and the only #ubw I want in my life - are ones that I can trust. So how can we feel our feelings, and let rage work for us? This is found through engagement in activity that is pleasurable (which is separate and distinct from sexual). We deny ourselves pleasure, and in that denial our lives are not ones based in truth -thus easier to manipulate. Ruha Benjamins recent speech at Spelman College, makes this clear. Audre Lorde in her essay, Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power, makes this clear. Chic-Fil-A, Trump, the Sistas, and Atlanta make this clear. Diamond and Silk of Trump fame, make this crystal clear! How does one reject the status quo, the expectation of the denial of pleasure? Why does the world require #ubw deny herself pleasure? It is because, a #ubw empowered from her seat of power, which is one that moves to the rhythm of what feels good, is so.fuxing.dangerous.REFERENCES IN TODAY'S EPISODEMarie Laveau - Goddess of Good JujuMedusa - Shadow of RageInside Rep. Episode 66: Out of Rose?
Apr 12 2024
Episode 66: Out of Rose?
Me and the legions of #ubw who have been silent for so long, most definitely are not fuxing with misogynoir. At least we must be intentional in our attempts to not be complicit actors. It would be unfair to jump to Diddy and the minefield of misogyny that is hip-hop, without examining my own participation given my love of hip-hop - the more vulgur, misogynostic, the better! I know - it is contradictory. However, if I say I am living a life of alignment, that everything that I say and do are a match, then having on repeat a Ricky Rozay song that includes a line that in effect is equivalent to: "Drop that p***y b***h" is in direct juxtaposition to whatever I said before, thereby rendering my words....BS! Imma ease into that elimination of Ricki and the rest from my hip-hop lexicon. But before we get there, life stays filled with joyful disasters.  Settling into that as the feeling is incredibly uncomfortable. I can experience the joyful highs of watching my daughter flourish and blossom into this amazing #ubw in training.  I watch her at the same time I have to process the disastrous nature of how my ex-husband continues to poke the delicate protective membrane my daughter and I have wrapped around ourselves. For some, the disastrous times appear to overshadow the joyful ones, and its enough to cause one to be broken. I am beyond grateful for the legion of #ubw that allow me to unburden during those times. Sis, my prayer for you is that you have that same legion. Episode 65: Confused But Not Surprised
Apr 5 2024
Episode 65: Confused But Not Surprised
We outside. We outside. We on Spring Break ya'll, but this #ubw still has something to say. Confusion is one of the things that I don't like to fux with. I enjoy clarity about what is happening around me, so that I can properly assess situations. Unfortunately, the luxury of clarity regarding understanding - why is it, that when we think about Black Women - the emotional and physical harm that befalls us- we accept that that mistreatment is just par for the course? It's confusing (but not surprising) that it feels as if the only people who want us alive is us.  President John "Basic" Mosely has been reinstated as the head of Lincoln University, after an independent investigation concluded that there was no wrongdoing  linking him to the unfortunate  death by suicide of Dr. Candia-Bailey. Basic Mosely put back as head of a whole HBCU traslates to: #ubw: We.Don't.Give.A.Fux.Bout.'cha !   Le Sigh. Confused, but not surprised.  The confusion but lack of surprise is why we see a ninja like Diddy still outside. How the dude still on the instagrams when women (and men) have been beaten, raped, sex trafficed, maimed, blown up! When we let monsters roam free, we too become a little bit of a monster, cause we let them go free. Karma will continue to be a bitch to Diddy - and unfortunately this is bitch that he won't be able to fux.But before we get there - we revisit a delightful Friday night in which my Sisters and I, my fellow #ubw, were fed good food. This is food that you cannot buy in a store, but the food, the nourishment, that is based in the loving kindness of other Black Women - the only ones who care enough that we are alive. Episode 64: But I Already Got The Check
We fuxing with Karma, Kevin, and the Krown (KKK - just let me have this one, please and thank you). We continue the karma conversation today as we consider the incredibly draining force of  applying energy to those who have done us harm. God/Source/Universe takes care of all - the debt is owed and it will be paid. Kevin and his bank account are literally and figuratively repaying those debts. What pre-tell does the K(C)rown have to to do with Karma and Kevin and #ubw? Well, similarly, the Krown has laid its flag in places throughout the world using brute force and psychological warfare. The significant series of misfortunes including sex scandals, deaths, cancers....the debts will be paid. In today's episode we examine the connections  between life as a Queen in a gilded cage (although I am assured it is indeed a beautiful, luxurious prison) and that of a #ubw. Mar 21 2024
Episode 63: Let Karma Be a Bitch
We are fuxing with joy again today, as Ms. ReesaTeesa and Ms. Wendy Williams back to back have the minds of #ubw reminded of how fragile the mental state and environment of many of us are. Many Uppity Black Women find themselves in similar situations, in part due to the actions of a n*gga. Because really, anyone of us can be making 50 part series or starring in documentaries showcasing the state of affairs in our very messy lives. Often in these dark spaces,  there is a great deal of energy spent on picturing the downfall of those who have harmed us. This is a misdirected use of our energy given that the Universe does not allow any debts to go unpaid. Thus those individuals will be taken care of.  Mr. Kevin Hunter, aka Mr. Wendy Williams, can attest to that (that n*gga broke!). So if we trust that God/Source/Universe will handle it,  what can we do with that energy that we now have available - apply it to joy of course. Yes, Sis, we must be intentional about joy always, even when life is lifing - especially when life is lifing. An easy way to incoprorate joy is to do everyday things in out of the box ways. This can open the door to beautiful spontaneous things - the things that have the capacity to save our lives. Episode 62: Who Will Gather You?
Mar 14 2024
Episode 62: Who Will Gather You?
We are definitely not fuxing with the state of affairs of what is THE Wendy Williams. Having recently viewed the Lifetime documentary "Where is Wendy Williams" (using "documentary" loosely, given the definition of the word documentary is film regarding an event or a person, based on facts - there were a great deal of facts missing from this ) It was incredibly unsettling to see this #ubw in this physical and emotional distress, especially given how the public is familiar with this Uppity Black Woman, hair did, clothes fit, and jewels shining. The current environment of Ms. Williams, one filled with subtractors (individuals who take as opposed to add) and loneliness, expedites her mental and physical decline. Without immediate intervention, soon there will be nothing left to take. If Wendy's story does not heighten  the necessity of assessing your circle, like yesterday, when shall you - your life depends on it. Before we get to Ms. Wendy, its Pisces season, and your girl is hitting level 43. Level 43 is wild indeed. In these 43 years, much has been done, now consider that my presence in this form could be for another 43 more - what can I do with that Sis? Sis, what would YOU do with another 43? Episode 61: ReesaTeesa2 - Is it the Chuuch or the The Men?
Mar 7 2024
Episode 61: ReesaTeesa2 - Is it the Chuuch or the The Men?
We stay with the story of ReesaTeesa this week, simply because there are many #ubw who are in a ReesaTessa tale right now, however, their stories are not magnified on the interwebs for all the world to provide commentary. ReesaTeesa is a #ubw avatar for how we are trained (or rather not trained) to relationship with men. Our training (or lack thereof) rests on concepts of being a virtuous, pure, Christian Woman who pleases God by living her life in a manner that would be pleasing to her HUSBAND. Thus, if the pinnacle of the good, Christian Black Woman is one that lives for her HUSBAND, living with men who are not HUSBANDS, or having children with men who are not HUSBANDS, is judged, hence, what is a #ubw to do? Marry a crazy n*gga, to avoid  judgement and condemnation from the CHUUCH, and have the world captivated by a story that is more common than we will allow ourselves to admit. The s*it I went through (and I am still going through) with my ex-husband, could fill a whole book, movie, and television series. What's Your Sign/See the Signs

What's Your Sign/See the Signs
As Black Futures Month 2024 comes to a close, we congratulate this year's winner of Corporate Fux ups structurally impacting all of our lives - and that is, this here America. The reason this podcast exists is because of this year's winner! Congratulations to all of our 2024 contestants, including Sally's Beauty Supply, Target Stores, and Lincoln University. After our awards ceremony, we'll jump into the drama that is Ms. ReesaTeesa, owner of the 50+ part, 500+ minutes "series" on TikTok. Like sis created a whole binge watchable universe based in her relationship with a dude she is calling "Legion." One of the dictionary definitions of "legion" is a horde of 3000-6000 men. In the case of Ms ReesaTeesa, we can replace "men" with "lies." What has got the world binge watching the retelling of Ms. Reesa Teesa's saga is the unfathomable circumstances she found herself in, once wrapped in the narcissistic and pathologically lying web of Mr. Legion. ReesaTeesa granted Legion a level of access to her, without doing an excavation/investigation of him. I posit that this is based in the indoctrination we receive as Women (white women, I'm including ya'll) to not question what men say or do. Thus, our training leaves us questioning our intuition and ignoring all the big, red, blaring SIGNS that are all around us. However, ignoring the signs in relationship can be devastating spiritually and physically, as intimately experienced by ReesaTeesa and myself.  So what can we do differently to ensure that we take heed when we are presented with SIGNS. Well, first sis, you actually have to see and acknowledge the sign, and in order to do that, my love, you MUST.BE.STILL.REFERENCES IN TODAYS EPISODEQueen Mother Nanny - Goddess of LiberationKelli Carter Jackson, The Story of Violence in AmericaThe SOMNIUM Series III Party at INTERThe Hietori MethodNeutral_Lab and Designer TOMOEJewell HouseReesa Teesa on InstagramIf you are an Uppity Black Woman, ready to say: I.Can't.Fux.With.You! Episode 59: But Are You Flourishing?
Feb 22 2024
Episode 59: But Are You Flourishing?
Sticking with this concept of luxury, we are fuxing with the people who help us flourish. These are people selected with intention. Let's refresh our collective memories regarding the dictionary definition of luxury - inessential but conducive to comfort and pleasure; sumptuous living and surroundings. I consider relationships to fall into this category. They are technically not essential. I guess we can survive without them, although it would be a sad and dry existence. The type of relationships that we have are a matter of life and death - this is not an exaggeration. Our relationships no longer require assurances that the animal will be caught and slaughtered, and the children will be fed. Relationships for the Uppity Black Woman are necessary for self-actualization and flourishing, effectively, we should only be participating in relationships that assist us in manifesting the highest vision of ourselves. Those type of relationships exist when both parties possess the characteristics of psychological well-being. Hence why it's not only the lawyer/bus-driver that is a mismatch but so too is the lawyer/lawyer, when one of our legal eagles does not possess the capacity to assist the other with flourishing, because the n**ga is not flourishing themselves. So what is a #ubw to do. First step -  stop believing the lies the people have shared that there are no "good" Black Men, that they are scarce. They are there and available. #UBW must position herself to assess whether SHE is in a space in which she is encircled by those who too are on the journey of self-actualization and growth. It always comes back to YOU booboo.References in Today's EpisodeShadow of Scarcity - Socouyant Lincoln University students continue protests on Founder's DayThe Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett - Paul Brunson: 'The 70/30 Body Shape Is Scientifically The Most Sexy (Podcast)In Search Of Black-On-Black LovePew Research Center - Interracial marriage: Who is ‘marrying out’?The Marvelous Mrs. MaiselDetails about Joan Rivers’ death emerge as lawsuit is filedIf you are an Uppity Black Woman, ready to say: I.Can't.Fux.With.You! Episode 58: Inessential but Conducive to Comfort

Episode 58: Inessential but Conducive to Comfort
There is always time to fux with luxury. It is a privilege to be in sumptuous surroundings. I had a recent experience of being enveloped in sumptuous delights, surrounded by things inessential but conducive to incredible comfort and pleasure. Sumptuous surroundings, the concept of luxury, that to me is the distinction of why I use the term Black Futures Month instead of Black History Month. Black History wants us to emphasize a time where Black People were limited in their ability to openly engage in activity that was inessential but conducive to pleasure. Toiling in the fields is the image that is seared into our brains. Black Futures evokes a time period where the basis of how we live is conducive to comfort and pleasure. In those Black Futures, we are going to look good too! In this episode, we'll also spotlight four Luxury Designer Labels founded by (Uppity) Black Women that you can buy instead of Gucci: House of Takura, Andrea Iyamah, Hanifa, and Frances Grey. Episode 57: Fux Your Feelings??!!

Episode 57: Fux Your Feelings??!!
We fuxing with feelings today and how they can direct us to where we want to go. You know I always have stories that prepare me for this podcast, and this concept of feeling all the feels were front and center recently. I am certain that I have had these feelings in the past, it is only now that I have noticed them, like really noticed them and taken stock of what they mean. Take note UBW's the feelings never.ever.lie. The problem is that many of us are not in positions to feel our feelings. We are people of science, and quite frankly, we operate in world in which we often say "Fux your  feelings!" I know I did.  The feelings though tell you where to go, as well as whose "web" you must shift out of in order to align with the highest vision of yourself. Before we get into feelings though, it is Black Futures Month ya'll, and you know we have to discuss the nonsensical things corporate America has done to kick off this season, which is often fraught with misplaced kente cloth and continued reminders of dog bites, water hoses, and slavery. We know our history is much more expansive than that period of time, even though they aim to make us forget.REFERENCES IN TODAYS EPISODEGoddess Yemaya - AwakeningWhat Is Black Futures Month?Whew! Episode 56: 4 Out of 6

Episode 56: 4 Out of 6
We are still (and should always be)  fuxing with JOY this week (JOY!) and continuing the countdown of 12 ways the Uppity Black Woman #ubw can incorporate JOY in her life in 2024. Last week we went through numbers 1-6, of which included, have more sex (parenthesis: with yourself) which ranked at number 2 (wtf). I can say in the affirmative that over the course of the week,  I've incorporated four out of those six joyful ways into my life . How many did you do?  Today we go through the next 6 which include: Say No More To Enforce Stronger Boundaries  (No is a complete sentence) Make a Better Effort to Hang Out With Your Girls (It truly is the women who will save us)Self-Prioritize Over Self-Care  - (Self-Care is not a Saturday thing, it's an everyday thing)Treat Yourself Often  (Yes, wear that underwear you've been saving for that  random  a** n***a)Pick Up An Interesting Hobby  (The more useless the hobby the better!)Take Your PTO (Even if you’re not traveling anywhere)  (You can stay home (and have sex with yourself))We'll also walk through the power of manifestation. A recent experience highlighted the importance of continuing with the action needed to align with your highest visions, even when presented with frustrations and roadblocks. The Universe has certainly risen to support me and it was done with such ease and grace. Allow (emphasis on allow) it to do the same for you. Episode 55: Bring Ya' Friends
Jan 25 2024
Episode 55: Bring Ya' Friends
We ARE fuxing with Joy today ya'll. Whew! Dr. Claudine Gay's resignation and Dr. Candia-Bailey's death by suicide had us dark. It was a 1-2 gut punch at the start of 2024. And sometimes I feel that that is where the world wants the Black Woman to stay - to forget that there is unlimited joy that is accessible to us. So that is what we doing today! At the start of the year, Essence wrote an article entitled: It’s Time For Joy In 2024: Here Are 12 Fun New Year's Resolutions For Every Black Woman and I must say I agree with every last one! Maybe not 100% with the order of 1-12, but they are all actual factual, and every #ubw along with her homegirls needs to be incorporating them in her life, Right.The.Fux.Now! Today we discuss numbers 1-6, which include:1. Try Something Outside the Box (Yes - ice fishing in Quebec sounds like an excellent idea)2. Have More Sex! (This really should be #1 and should indeed specify having sex with yourself - ahem!)3. Date Outside Of Your Type (Why helloo there Mr.  Chen)4. See Some World! (You got the cash, I know you do. Besides, Mr. Chen is not local)5. Journal Consistently (Do that data dump routinely, let it out!)6. Hot Girl Trots (Go outside. Move that a**)Before we get into doing our joyful moments as it pertains to this particular list, we will discuss some of my own joys which include New Friend-ing and Black People-ing. Sis, I know at times it feels as if there is a concerted effort to destroy the Black Woman and forever steal her joy, but it is available to you - and you do deserve to have it. If no one has told you today - I love you!REFERENCES IN TODAYS EPISODEGoddess Mame Coumba Bang - Speak Up La Grande BoucherieI Don't Do Clubs - Must Love BeardsPurple Kisses Pole FitnessOne Line A Day: A Five-Year Memory BookIf you are an Uppity Black Woman, ready to say: I.Can't.Fux.With.You! Episode 54: Sweet Communion Will Save Us
Jan 18 2024
Episode 54: Sweet Communion Will Save Us
We are fuxing with community today, as this is what I know will save us - it has to save us. It is so early in the year and we are at a crossroads. The alarm bells ring but I feel as if it is a dull noise in the background for those who don't wear the Uppity Black Woman label.  In quick succession after Dr. Claudine Gay's dizzying constructive discharge from Harvard, we received the tragic news of another Black Woman in Higher Education.  Dr. Antoinette Candia-Bailey, VP of Student Affairs at Lincoln University recently died by suicide. Emails written before her death illustrate that this Black Woman was subjected to sustained harassment and mental anguish from the (white man) President of the University, after disclosing her health issues which included anxiety and depression. Dr. Candia-Bailey did not receive support from the Administration, - including the Board, after relaying the maltreatment that she experienced. She was left to stand alone and bear the trauma OF a hostile workplace IN a hostile workplace. Dr. Candia-Bailey's out was to no longer be here with us. We, the Uppity Black Women,  are dying by suicide at alarming rates, and I am frightened - scared for US. It is in these times it is so critical to assess our personal positioning in the framework of community. Firstly,  can you commune (commune can be with one person, as far as I am concerned, the two of ya'll are now a collective). Second, are you one that other Black Women can look to as life, meaning do you have the ability to offer community. It truly is the Community, the other Black Women who will save US.  My prayer for US is that we all experience the life giving nature of sweet communion.988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline - The 988 Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.REFERENCES IN TODAYS EPISODEGoddess Mbuya Nehanda - Goddess of Radical Rebirth8 Reasons Why Poor Things Is A Feminist MasterpieceSuicide Rates Among Black Women and Girls Has Climbed for Two DecadesOPINION: Dr. Antoinette Candia-Bailey's Tragic End Reminds Me How Much Empathetic Leadership Can Literally Be A Matter of Life or Death for Black Womenbell hooks, Sisters of the Yam: Black Women and Self-Recovery, Chapter 10 : Sweet CommunionIf you are an Uppity Black Woman, ready to say: I.Can't.Fux.With.You!
