Our Editor's Take

The Transgender Show seeks to provide hope, inspiration, and a new perspective. Emily Michelle interviews people who are trans, non-binary, or intersex on her podcast. The host talks to them about their experiences transitioning. She asks them about their experiences with telling their family and friends. The conversation deals with the challenges they encountered and the successes they achieved. These are honest and vulnerable discussions without any shame.

The host of the podcast is the founder of The Transverse, an organization advocating for TGNBNC+ people. Emily came out as trans in 2014 and soon realized that everything was different. Her journey to becoming her true self was nothing like what she imagined. It was often challenging, but there were also many joyful moments.

Since Emily felt so unprepared, she had the urge to share her experience with others. Her goal was to help them feel less alone and learn more about what's to come when they start transitioning. One of Emily's first ventures was to host The Transgender Show on Twitch. It's her way to unify the community and provide them with supportive content. Later, she created more shows, like Transistance and Valkyries as well as this podcast.

With the podcast, Emily hopes to expose more people to the life experiences of trans people. She also strives to create a safe, welcoming community. It's a place for everyone who is not a CIS straight person to feel accepted and supported.

The guests on The Transgender Show come from diverse, interesting backgrounds. For instance, Justice Renée grew up in a Fundamentalist home. Her parents made her feel ashamed of her trans identity. After becoming a youth pastor and living in the church, she embraced her true identity. Dani, a 50-year-old trans woman, is having her second go at transitioning. She is also a manager in a male-dominated industry, with fourteen employees working under her and supporting her.

Each story on The Transgender Show is distinctive, showcasing the richness of the community. New episodes arrive weekly.
