Riley Kirkpatrick returns for another fun episode where we covered a lot of ground. Riley is an incredibly skilled Blacksmith, Farrier and cohost of  “Forging Brains Podcast”, a show that gives the listener a look into the farrier community and the incredible sport of Competition Blacksmithing. We talked for a good long time about the World Championship Blacksmiths- very exciting horseshoe forging competitions where a  blacksmith team forges projects in very tight deadline; like a horseshoe in 8 minutes?! ! We’re celebrating the end of the year with the legendary Aaron Gough of Gough Customs. My guy is back! He’s been on an 18th month hiatus from knifemaking to make a huge announcement! Tom Nugent is a knife maker in New Jersey who recently started his company Knives by Nuge after a career in law enforcement. We talked about his start in the Boy Scouts and how it influenced his decisions to become an EMT at 16 and a police officer. Tom’s Knives are primarily Bushcraft and his years of fishing and hunting have inspired his decisions. We talked about how hard starting a small knife business is and covered the unromantic parts of paying the bills. This is a very honest look in what it takes to giving the knife business a go. Tom is an incredibly hard a worker, and a great up and comer. Definitely someone to watch.
