A late diagnosis turned her world upside down. Join Katy Weber each week as she interviews other women who discovered they have ADHD in adulthood and are finally feeling like they understand who they are and how to best lean into their strengths, both professionally and personally.
Women & ADHD is a podcast for women who received an ADHD diagnosis later in life. ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The host of the show is Katy Weber. She worked as a newspaper editor and designer until, at 45 years old, a doctor diagnosed her with ADHD. It changed her life and explained her mood swings and episodes of depression and anxiety.
Katy found comfort in learning more about the condition. She also found that talking to others like her was an energizing experience. So Katy decided to create the Women & ADHD website. She offers coaching and group sessions for women like her. There are also classes people can take.
This podcast is the companion to the website. In each episode, Katy interviews a woman who got diagnosed with ADHD at a later age. One guest, María-Victoria Albina, has bounced from career to career. She's been a doula, a nurse practitioner, and a wellness podcaster. After her diagnosis, she realized she was looking for a holistic approach to healing and wellness.
Then there's Jennifer Salzman, whose ADHD diagnosis happened at age 40. She realized that she had been self-medicating with alcohol. Her diagnosis allowed her to quit drinking.
Meg Casebolt left social media because it exacerbated her ADHD-induced time blindness. She also helps businesses develop marketing strategies that don't rely on social media.
Every story in Women & ADHD is unique while being relatable. Women who live with ADHD will find a lot in common with every guest. At one hour long, the episodes allow enough of a foray into the details. They are well-paced and engaging throughout.
The overarching philosophy of the Women & ADHD podcast is simple. It's not enough to manage ADHD. Thinking in those terms is limiting. Neurodivergent women can harness their ADHD, becoming more productive and happier as a result. Such a diagnosis is an opportunity for empowerment. Katy wants to help women on their journey to embracing themselves as they are.
