Our Editor's Take

A very busy but health-conscious mom gives practical health and wellness advice on The Wellness Mama Podcast. Katie Wells has hosted this show since 2014. She runs the WellnessMama site and is the author of three books. Katie is also the mother of six children.

Katie wanted to keep her family happy and healthy, so she became interested in the wellness field. Some of the advice on The Wellness Mama Podcast is for families and children. Katie gears much of the content towards a female audience as well. But people without kids and men can still hear a lot of wisdom on this show.

In most of The Wellness Mama Podcast episodes, Katie interviews an expert on one topic. For example, Cassandra Aarnssen of HGTV's Hot Mess House explains her organizing techniques. "You can't organize excess," Cassandra says. Decluttering comes before anything else when it comes to organizing. Actress and mom Alicia Silverstone discusses how she gets her kids to eat healthy foods. Kevin Ellis calls himself the Bone Coach. He gives advice on what foods to eat for healthy bones.

Dr. Debi Silber explains how to get past betrayal. This is something she has experienced twice within her own family. So her comments are personal and helpful. Boxer and cookbook author Laila Ali talks about how she stays in shape. Mollie McGlocklin of the Sleep Is a Skill podcast advises on how to put that title into practice. Other show topics include gut health. Glucose readings and hormone replacement therapy get discussed as well.

The Wellness Mama Podcast talks about many other topics. While Katie is not yet menopausal, she talks to experts like Esther Blum about what she can expect in the future. In another episode, Katie has Michael Stevens, her personal financial advisor, on the show. He gives her audience advice on sound financial planning for their future.

Most Wellness Mama Podcast episodes are about an hour long. Several new episodes drop each week.
