Media Hotshots

Nick Osborn

Interviews with some of the most celebrated Editors in Lifestyle media in the UK today. The aim of this series is to provide PRs and brands with an insight into the daily workings of each publication, and hopefully provide some golden nuggets of information and best practices to get into each Editors good books, and therefore coverage. They'll be discussing their journey to becoming an Editor, how things have changed since then, and more recently, the Editorial structure and process of the publication and their working life, tips on what PR tricks work for them, as well as those that don't, amongst other things. This series is an extension of the symbiosis that PressArea and PRShots has already built between brands and Editors, however you don't have to use our platforms in order to benefit from these interviews. read less

Introduction
So welcome to Media Hotshots, a podcast series dedicated to the role of Editors of Fashion, Beauty and interiors whether that’s in magazines or those sections within the mainstream media. If you’re a PR for a Fashion, Beauty or interiors brand, this series aims to help you gain coverage within the titles that each editor is from by hopefully giving you some real golden nuggets of information, whilst also celebrating the lives of these amazing Editors. And the way that we’ll do that, is by delving into, within each interview The demographic breakdowns of each titleThe Editorial structure of each of those departmentsEach of the Editor’s creative structures and processesTheir Top 3 PR pet hatesAs well as their top 3 PR lovesThings that you can do to influence, inspire and get noticed by the Editors and therefore gain coverageTheir Lead time...and many more things, all whilst getting to know each Editor and their personalities, understanding what they need to hopefully make all of our lives easier. Now (I don’t want to labour this), however the idea for the interview series came about at the very beginning of lockdown, back in March when we were inundated with requests from Editors imploring brands and PRs to keep uploading images onto the PRShots platform, so that their magazines could keep on producing their pages. Therefore you’ll notice references to PressArea and PRShots, and this is not an attempt at a shameless plug, it was initially intended just for our clients, however as the majority of the advice given is applicable to PRs regardless of whether you use our platforms or not - it was suggested we put this out for everyone. But just to make sure - we’ve made it clear in the chapters which parts of the interview relate to our platforms so you can skip over these little bits if you want.So I hope you enjoy the series, I’m keen to hear feedback so if you do like the interviews please subscribe and rate and review the podcast, and if you send me a screenshot of your review I’ll send you a pdf containing all of the best practice advice given by all of the Editors in the series, as well as a whole lot more. You’ll also be entered into the prize draw to win one of two £50 Amazon vouchersAnd send it to info@prshots.comGood luck and enjoy
