Did you know that Nigeria boasts over 84 million hectares of arable land, yet only 40% is cultivated. With a population exceeding 200 million, 214 billion cubic meters of renewable water; and abundant and reliable rainfall in over two third of its territory, our nation has some of the richest natural resources for agriculture to thrive. But with all of these wonderful resources we are blessed with, Nigeria still imports a significant portion of its food.So, what exactly are we doing wrong?

Your support has been incredible, and we're geared up for an even more significant journey, in 2024.So, with that being said, let’s get down to business.Our topic today revolves around the Health Sector in Nigeria, but our main focus is the Emergency Services.Let me give us a real-life example which trended about 3 weeks ago. On Wednesday, 17th of January 2024, there was a major fire outbreak at IC World Emporia Centre in Gwarinpa, Abuja. Thankfully, there were no lives lost, but goods worth millions of naira were destroyed in the fire. Now here is the absurd part, An X user posted a video of the incident and said that he had reached out to fire fighters early without any success. I’m just going to read out his exact tweet just so we get the full picture. His tweet read ‘I called @Fedfireng emergency line, the woman hung up on me. I called 112, they said I should call 122, I called 122, they said I should call 112”. This just paints a vivid picture of the challenges Nigerians face in times of emergencies and if something is not done, we will keep having deaths that could have been avoided.

Let's discuss on a topic that often goes unnoticed by the Nigerian youths, the Agricultural sector.Do you know that many youth turning away from this sector majorly because of their perception of the idea of farming being low-wage, for illiterates, elderly, and also considered a rural job?Listen to the full podcast!

The security agencies in Nigeria must prioritise their duty as protectors, rather than becoming perpetrators of violence. Together, we have the power to strive for a Nigeria where human rights are truly respected and upheld. It is crucial that we continue to raise awareness, hold authorities accountable, and advocate for necessary reforms.

Securing Nigeria's journeys is a collective responsibility, and it starts with immediate action. To the government, the Policy makers, the time to act decisively is now to ensure the safety of every road user in Nigeria. Reform and implement the transportation policy to build a safer and more efficient transportation system.We can have a transportation system that is safe, efficient, adequate and up to the desired standard of every Nigerian.

Let's demand and work towards a Nigeria where we can trust that help is just a phone call away when disaster strikes. A Nigeria where we can rest assured that our homes, businesses, and loved ones are protected. We can also have an efficient Fire Service department meeting international standards if we take the right steps to achieve this.

Eradicating poverty in Nigeria is a complex challenge that requires a comprehensive and sustainable approach. Therefore, to address this issue effectively, we need a sophisticated strategy that encompasses both economic, social, and political dimensions.  Eradicating poverty is a long-term endeavour that requires sustained efforts from all sectors of society. By taking a holistic approach and addressing the root causes of poverty, we can create a more stable and secure future for Nigeria.
