Widower's Wingman with Richard Strother

Widower's Wingman with Richard Strother
Episode SummaryHave you ever considered what it takes to bounce back from a significant loss? This episode is a heartfelt conversation with Richard Strother, The Widower’s Wingman. We discussed a heartfelt exploration of resilience, loss, and recovery. It provides practical strategies for coping with loss, highlighting the importance of small moments in life and underscoring the value of authenticity in new relationships. We will share a newfound understanding of resilience and a deeper appreciation for life's small moments.Key Topics[1:15] How do men bounce back from a loss?[4:21] Who is Richard Strother?[10:02] The importance of recovery, resting, and relationships[16:42] Leadership is about little moments[24:58] How do I get the most out of my time?[33:22] Understanding the need to develop new skills[42:02] Be more pro-active[46:53] Dating checklist and relationship authenticity[54:22] OutroQuotes We Loved“You know, yeah, but you have to come to terms with not just your loss, and let's be honest when you lose somebody like that, it's not about just you either. It's about all the people around where you live. Now you are the connection point.” - Richard Strother.“There's the funeral, the celebration, whatever celebration of life, whatever you want to call it, and that's great, okay, good Afterwards. So then this is what I call the carnival.” - Richard Strother."The grieving person, the grieving man, the grieving woman, the grieving man doesn't know why. It's because they don't have the capacity to think ahead. They're dealing with stuff as it comes. So the best thing you can do for them is identify something, and the most practical things are usually the best.” - Richard StrotherGuest Bio A loving and devoted husband, breadwinner, and caregiver a few years ago. Sam passed away peacefully on an overcast October day at half past noon. It wasn’t a surprise; Samantha had received her diagnosis the January after we were married. In the nine years that followed, we did our best to make the most of life and enjoy every opportunity life afforded us. Those of you who’ve been through this know what happens next. I call it “the carnival.” The paperwork, bureaucracy, arrangements, and condolences from family, friends, and colleagues, many of whom don’t know what else to say. Home is so familiar yet conspicuously missing a crucial part—the crushing silence when all is calm. When “the carnival” is over, our family and friends have receded into their routines, and we widowers are left alone in that place to figure out what our lives should look like. Like me, you find you’re better with a partner, someone to laugh with and share simple moments with, who effortlessly inspires you to be the best version of yourself. So I embarked on my search, grateful to have been blessed with over a decade of experience as a teacher/trainer with advanced skills in applied psychology, neurolinguistic programming, relationship and leadership building, and far better than average technical proficiency to aid me in my quest. Was it a smooth or flawless path? What kind of polished success story would one see in social media feeds or Disney movies? Not by a long shot! I had some rough times and made a few mistakes, but all of that led me to the magnificent woman who inspires me to live the fullest expression of myself and makes every day better simply by being in my life. All my experiences, training, and skills led me to adapt, learn, and distill a clear and effective pathway to help other widowers gain clarity, present authentically, and successfully navigate both online and in-person dating to find that connection, joy, and a rich, fulfilling, supportive and loving relationship.Links & ResourcesWebsite:

Are you making these mindset mistakes? With Kevin Palmieri
Episode SummaryIn the latest episode of our podcast, we delve deep into the intricate realm of self-worth and self-belief with Kevin Palmieri from Next Level University. We explore the complex world of self-worth, how it's reflected in our ability to appreciate our value, and the often-overlooked aspect of self-belief. We observed and discussed that men often have lower self-belief, hindering their progress and success. Recognizing this, we talked about practical ways to boost self-belief and overcome barriers to personal growth. We underscore that personal growth can sometimes mean outgrowing people in our lives, and how to handle such situations with self-worth and understanding by creating a safe space for meaningful conversations and being open about our struggles are vital factors in this process.Key Topics[0:00] Intro[1:57] Self-worth, self-belief, and impostor syndrome[7:32] Arrogance vs. self-deprecation[12:41] Where does the low self-worth come from?[20:05] One of the hardest things in the world[24:47] Drive to five[32:07] Unspoken truth[38:38] Relationships are about growth[45:38] Forged by multiple environments[46:39] Three pillars[52:26] Asking yourself why[53:24] OutroQuotes We Lovedyou don't get results, you don't get feedback, you don't get proof. If you have hyper-high self-belief, you might convince yourself you don't need to try. Okay, that will hold you back.” - Kevin Palmieri.“The analogy I've always used is when you get a new level of confidence, belief, or self-worth. It's a tool or a weapon you don't know how to use yet. So it's just like a nail gun. You're shooting nails everywhere, and you don't know how to use it yet.” - Kevin Palmieri."Asking yourself why is one of the easiest, cheapest things you can do to start the process of self-awareness.” - Kevin PalmieriGuest Bio CFO | Founder | Co-Host & Peak Performance Podcast Coach | SpeakerSome people find rock bottom. I discovered that rock bottom had a basement in my mid 20’s. I had it all. I had a beautiful girlfriend, a high-paying job, a sports car, and my dream body, but I still ended up sitting on the edge of a bed debating suicide. After my rock bottom moment, I went all in on holistic self-improvement. I was determined to overcome my anxiety and depression and finally live the life I’d always dreamed of. Years later, I now host a podcast that impacts hundreds of thousands of people in countries all over the world. At this stage, I’ve helped grow the podcast into a multi-six-figure business, and I’ve recorded well over 1,000 episodes. I’ve also given hundreds of speeches, training, and coaching calls with people worldwide. The main thing that changed was ME. I focused on learning what I didn’t know (unlearning a lot, too), and my life shifted. I love discussing Consistency, Commitment, Habits, Mindset, Confidence, Fear, Relationships, Limiting Beliefs, and everything in between. I believe in a heart-driven but NO BS approach to holistic self-improvement, and I look forward to teaching even more people what it takes to get to the next level!Links & ResourcesWebsite: https://www.nextleveluniverse.com/about/Email: kevin@nextleveluniverse.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kevin.palmieri.90 Instagram: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kevin-palmieri-5b7736160/ Links...

And I had to.” - Jeremy Nagel"So that speaks to becoming part of my identity that, rather than me just thinking sometimes I run occasionally, it's, I am a runner, and that makes me feel good, and I wouldn't feel congruent if I didn't go for a run.” - Jeremy NagelGuest Bio Jeremy is a neurodiverse software developer turned startup founder who is slightly obsessed with habits. Conquer The Gray Areas of Life with Kari Schwear
Full show notes, links, and video available at https://unshakablehabits.com/kari-schwearEpisode SummaryAre you stuck in the gray areas of life? Struggling to find balance and fulfillment? Join me as I host an illuminating conversation with Kari Schwear, the founder of GrayTonic. We'll be engaging in an eye-opening conversation about the concept of the life wheel, an enlightening tool that helps identify areas of fulfillment and those that may feel draining in our lives. Throughout the conversation, this episode reminds us that while we are not born unshakable, we all have the capacity to become unshakable. It requires effort, self-reflection, and consistent action, but with the right tools and mindset, we can navigate the gray areas of life and emerge stronger and more resilient. Join us, and let's navigate the gray together.Key Topics[0:00] Intro[2:21] Not bad, not great[5:42] Is your life wheel balanced?[10:56] Men were taught not to have emotions[16:31] Self-investment vs self-care[23:54] Gone through the hard times[28:42] Reacting vs responding[36:53] Discipline equals freedom[38:12] Intentional living[47:08] Everyday effort equals expansion[52:31] Don't try to do the big things, start small[59:58] OutroQuotes We Loved"Our feelings are what drives our actions, and we've not been taught how to sit with our feelings and we wanna act upon them. Nobody wants to not feel good. We're trying to escape it, we're trying to find a way out of it, but yet it's okay to not be okay. It's okay to honor those feelings that we do have and to recognize them and to label them." - Kari Schwear“You can see that they have decided that discipline equals freedom ..., but you can see it clearly that their decisions and their commitment to themselves is showing up in their behaviors." - Kari Schwear"So the key is everyday, and what I like to say is everyday effort equals expansion. If we do something every day and we have the effort, it will help get us to this expanded version of ourselves." - Kari SchwearGuest Bio Kari Schwear is an Executive Lifestyle Coach, Author and Speaker.
