Among today's guest's many stories, we hear Dave's story of a time he was finishing reading his Bible and then had a sudden desire to go grab a milkshake. That milkshake began an adventure wherein the Holy Spirit guided Dave with step-by-step navigation to go and save a girl from falling victim to a horrendous crime.Dave grew up in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and shares memories of attending Mass services that contained miracles, healings, speaking in tongues, and he even shares his first experiences of falling underneath the power of the Holy Spirit. Those services left a mark on Dave, even as he rebelled against his upbringing and pursued living life his own way.Dave was an angry young man who walked with a chip on his shoulder. Cory's uncle & pastor joins the boys to share his testimony and talk Genesis 6.Uncle Pastor Gil was raised in a very demonstrative Pentecostal church where the Holy Spirit regularly moved during services. The people of the church would respond by dancing, singing, screaming, and shouting. Shoes flew across the room, the Gifts of the Spirit were in operation, and once one of the men thought the baptism tank was empty only to find out it was full when he jumped in it to dance.Despite having grown up in this church where the manifest presence of God was felt during services,  when Gil was a teenager he found himself not knowing how to have a personal relationship with the God he knew to be real.  He describes the disconnect of going from the electric-charged atmosphere of Sunday morning service to the day to day life that just didn't feel the same.Gil was told time after time that there was a call on his life to be a minister, but he wasn't sure if that really was the future for him. This led to tension in his home, and after graduating college, Gil suddenly moved out of his parents' home and cut contact with them. Even apart from the Christian family he was raised in, Gil still wanted to know more about Jesus and how to live in relationship with him, so he enrolled in classes at Bible school. After three years of separation from his family, Gil suddenly found himself reunited with his parents, beginning his sophomore year of Bible college, and accepting the call of God on his life to pursue ministry.After sharing his journey to where he is today, Uncle Pastor Gil then walks us through what happened in Genesis 6 when the sons of God "knew" the daughters of men, and how these events play into the greater narrative of scripture, the fall of man, and the reason Jesus came to earth. Today's guest is Austin, and he shares stories of growing up with a grandfather who had a radical encounter with Jesus when he was 16 years old living in Trinidad. After meeting Jesus, Austin's grandfather made the choice to leave behind everything he had in order to pursue Jesus, and he spent years preaching the gospel in the streets of Trinidad.Austin shares stories of seeing his grandfather nonchalantly engage in spiritual warfare. He would often hear his grandfather speaking to things that weren't there, and as he grew older he realized that his grandfather had been speaking to angels and demons. As kids, Austin and his cousins also played games trying to "stir up" the spirit realm, and actually had some encounters with the demonic.
