NFL Analyst Chris Simms | Joe Burrow Is Back and The Bengals are the Biggest Threat in the AFC
Former NFL quarterback and current NBC NFL analyst Chris Simms joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss Joe Burrow's return, the Bengals 2024 draft class, and the Bengals 2024 schedule.  Chris was one of the national media members to praise the Bengals draft, as he believes it was one of the strongest classes in the NFL this year. He thinks Jermaine Burton might be the biggest steal of the draft saying if Alabama had a better QB while he was there he would've been a first-round pick. Chris also loves the Bengals in the trenches picks with Mims, Jenkins, and Jackson.  Lap and Chris also discuss the Bengals 2024 schedule, and many believe it's a favorable schedule for the Bengals. With an early matchup against the Super Bowl-winning Chiefs, it will be key for the Bengals to have a great start to the season unlike the past two seasons. Compared to the last two seasons the schedule should be in the Bengal's favor as they play a 4th place schedule in 2024 compared to a 1st place schedule like the previous two seasons.  We want to thank Chris Simms for being a fantastic guest and for joining us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham brought to you by First Star Logistics. Meet the 2024 Bengals Draft Class | Mike Potts Cincinnati Bengals Director of College Scouting
Cincinnati Bengals director of college scouting Mike Potts joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals 2024 draft class.    The Bengals had a very successful 2024 draft, filling their biggest needs with players they believe will have an immediate impact on the 2024 season. They keep their same successful formula, drafting players with elite athletic scores from big-time programs.  On the offensive side of the ball, the Bengals drafted what they hope to be their right tackle of the future with Amarius Mims (Georgia). They also added C Matt Lee (Miami) in the 7th round who had the highest PFF score of any center in the draft this year. With their 3rd-round pick, they selected WR Jermaine Burton (Alabama) who has first-round potential but off-the-field issues dropped him lower in the draft, hopefully, he will be an upgrade at WR3 after Tyler Boyd departed after 8 seasons. In the 4th & 6th rounds, they drafted two tight ends; Erik All (Iowa) and Tanner McLachlan (Arizona). Both played at very high levels in college and make the Bengal's tight end very versatile coming into the 2024 season.    On the defensive side of the ball, the Bengals drafted two defensive tackles Kris Jenkins (Michigan) and Mckinley Jackson (Texas A&M), both were great players in college and will look to fill and surpass the role of DJ Reader. In the 5th round, they selected CB Josh Newton (TCU) who was a projected 2nd-round pick until the draft process where he fell a bit on draft boards. They also added a pair of Ole Miss players with explosive edge player Cedric Johnson and safety Daijahn Anthony.  We want to thank Mike Potts for being a fantastic guest and for joining us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham brought to you by First Star Logistics. Cincinnati Bengals Director of College Scouting Mike Potts | The Best Draft Class in Recent Memory
Cincinnati Bengals director of college scouting Mike Potts joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the 2024 NFL draft class and why he believes this is one of the best draft classes in recent memory.    Potts and Lap talk about the important positions the Bengals will address in the 2024 draft. The Bengals did a great job filling their biggest needs in free agency, adding very talented players at key positions like safety, tight end, defensive tackle, and offensive tackle. It puts the Bengals in a great spot where they can take their best available player in each round. The first-round pick will be very telling on the Bengals strategy for the whole draft, will they sit at 18 and draft in the Trenches? Or will they be aggressive and trade up to grab an offensive weapon? All questions will be answered Thursday night so make sure you tune in!    Also, be sure to tune in for First Star Logistics' 2nd Annual Bengals Draft Party this Friday with live coverage on the 2nd & 3rd rounds of the NFL Draft! The action starts at 7:30 and will run until 10:00 so make sure you tune in for great giveaways and all your Bengals coverage!    We want to thank Mike Potts for being a fantastic guest and for joining us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham brought to you by First Star Logistics.
