Season 1 Finale: Ending on a Crash and Burnout
Join our Growing Together email community HEREWhether you believe burnout, adrenal fatigue or HPA axis disruption are real medical conditions or not, it is undeniable that stress has a negative impact on the body. We all have different sources of stress and different tolerance levels for that stress. This is not about comparison, who has it worse or who can suck it up and keep going longest. This is an honest conversation where Kevin and I realize that we just don't feel good.  We want to own that and move forward with a more gentle approach to our life. We know we have to say no to some things, even exciting things, in order to protect the life we already cherish.  With that awareness, we share our main takeaways from Season 1 and how we plan to move forward. Join us for our final episode, and thank you for being a part of our journey. Hearing THIS Would Have Been Helpful 3 Years Ago
A few months ago, Kevin read Adam Grant's latest book Think Again, and loved it. On Kevin's suggestion, I went searching for Adam on my favorite media, podcasts. I was in luck! I found his podcast by TED called Work Life, and downloaded an old episode from May 2019 called The Perils of Following Your Career Passion. Needless to say, I was very intrigued. I knew from Kevin that Adam has a contrarian perspective, but I had never heard someone say to NOT follow your passion. Of course I had to listen. After 3 years of searching, worrying and dreaming, I have found my own understanding of what it means to have "work life balance" or a "dream job".  Kevin has figured out his magic formula over the past 3 years as well. We both agree with Adam's take on why your dream job should not be solely based on feeling passionate every day. Kevin and I know that our dream jobs are tools to allow for a life where we can follow our curiosity; free from the notion that they have to make us money. Listen along with us and see what you think about Adam's unique perspective.                   Resources from this episode:Listen on Apple HERE: The Perils of Following Your Career PassionListen on Spotify HERE: The Perils of Following Your Career PassionAdam Grant's latest book Think AgainGrowth Minded Marriage Podcast is committed to growth which means we are open to all feedback. Share this episode with a friend, tell them why they'd love it. Email us at growthmindedmarriage@gmail.comLeave us a rating and review on Apple PodcastsAffiliate Disclosure: We have a partnership with Bookshop, an alternative book store solution to Amazon. Count The Kicks Total is In!
As a recap (in case this is your first episode, hello there!): Kevin and I have been tracking our downloads since March 11th, 2021. At the end of 30 days, we made a $1/download donation to Count The Kicks in honor of our good friends' son, JP. Count The Kicks is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering and educating mothers to track their baby's movements while still in the womb. Tracking baby's movements for 30 minutes every day can alert you to changes which may be a sign something is going wrong with your baby. Count The Kicks then urges women to take those concerns to their healthcare professional.Kevin and I chose to donate to this nonprofit after interviewing Kelli and Pat in episode 15, Growing Through Grief. Kelli and Pat courageously share their story of life after infant loss and they hope it is a resource to others struggling with grief. Thank you Kelli and Pat for allowing us to show up for JP in this way. It was our honor. And now, our total is in and it’s big! pssst We had an anonymous donor!Resources mentioned in this episode:Kelli and Pat's story of Growing Through Grief  Video: The Why Behind Lydie’s Loop 5K/kid’s fun runCount The Kicks App to track baby's movementsTerrible Thanks for Asking Podcast: Policing and Racial Trauma Growth Minded Marriage Podcast is committed to growth which means we are open to all feedback. Share this episode with a friend, tell them why they'd love it. Email us at growthmindedmarriage@gmail.comMessage us on Instagram Leave us a rating and review on Apple Podcasts
