Pressing The Button | Reviewing Amazon Prime's "Fallout" | Episode 2
Welcome back to the Big Red Button, that show your friend won't stop talking about! We're continuing our segment, "Pressing the Button," where we dissect the Amazon Prime TV show, Fallout, episode by episode. This week, we tackled Season 1 Episode 2!Episode two picks up right where we left off, weaving the intricate tales of our protagonists in the post-apocalyptic setting that Fallout fans adore. The episode does a fantastic job of intertwining the lives of Lucy the now-kinda-daunted Vault Dweller, Maximus the Brotherhood initiate, the scientist Wilzig, and the mysterious Ghoul, played by Walton Goggins, whose performance continues to steal the show.Chapters(00:02:19) - Non-spoiler discussion begins(00:03:04) - Ratings and initial thoughts on the episode(00:13:41) - Spoiler discussion begins(00:14:36) - Detailed breakdown of episode events and character actions(00:20:53) - Analysis of character motivations and plot implications(00:36:16) - Character development and thematic exploration(00:47:09) - Final thoughts on the episode and series directionCharacter Development and World BuildingThe episode excels in character development, especially with Lucy and Maximus. Lucy's naive approach to the harsh realities of the wasteland provides not only moments of humor but also growth as she begins to understand the gravity of her surroundings. Meanwhile, Maximus's journey in the Brotherhood of Steel introduces us to the internal conflicts and politics of the organization, adding depth to what might seem like a monolithic entity. The Bigger PictureAs the episode concludes, we're left with more questions than answers, setting up a narrative that promises even more twists and turns. The showrunners have done a fantastic job of keeping the viewers on their toes, much like the unpredictable world of Fallout itself.Final ThoughtsOverall, episode two of Fallout on Amazon Prime is a masterclass in adaptation. It captures the essence of the games while forging its own path in the television landscape. The episode earns a solid 8.5 out of 10 for its impeccable blend of action, character development, and faithful world-building.Until next time, keep your Pip-Boys tuned and ready for more adventures in the wasteland!Support the Show.Sign up for our newsletter, The Peel to stay in the know for all thing Grapefruit Network!Check out The Grapefruit Network on Instagram! The Grapefruit Network © 2020-2024 - All Rights Reserved. S1E3 | It's A Winnebago
Welcome back to BRB - one of the Fallout podcasts of all time (no, that wasn't a typo)  Summary:In this episode, the Stragglers head north to investigate the raiders and discuss the dynamics of friendship within their group. Upon arriving at the town of Harrison, they are surprised to find a lack of raiders. They explore a cafe and discover books written by Houston. That's until a shotgun is shoved into Jake's temple...Spoilers ahead, read at your own risk!Their exploration is interrupted by a librarian who confronts them with a shotgun. Robert Short, a ghoul librarian at the library tells the gang about the disappearance of the Raiders. Assuming these four are responsible, he forces them out, hands held high in the air. Outside, they engage in a conversation with Robert and learn about the mysterious cloaked figures. They discuss their mission and the cannibals they encountered. Robert reveals that the Raiders were killed by the cloaked figures, who had a symbol resembling antlers on their jackets. They decide to search for information on cannibal groups and discover the legend of the "wendigo", leaving them with a cliffhanger ending. S1E2 | Seducing The Mayor
We're SMASHIN' that Big Red Button like a YouTube clout-chaser - welcome back to the hottest Fallout podcast of at least the past fourteen seconds!  Summary:In this episode, the Stragglers continue onward, as they head to the outskirts of town to meet with "Crazy Carl." Carl is a bit of a loner, living in a shack, on the northeast edge of Dustridge, with a few two-headed brahmin and a field of razorgrain. Standing dutifully at his side is his since-deactivated Protectron robot, Phyllis.Carl's not too fond of outsiders coming to pay him a visit, but curiosity gets the better of him. He asks the trio about the gunshots he heard earlier. While the fleshy friends do their best not to alert him to the chaos that's unfolded, Gotfree has other plans... Spoilers ahead, read at your own risk!"Is now the time to tell him we found a cannibal?"And that's just where the fun begins. Carl tells the trio that he doesn't know much about the raiders, but the next time the "nice fellow" who wears the cool leather jacket comes down to ask Carl more questions, he'll happily see if the man knows anything. Turns out, Carl had been trading with the cannibal for some time. The trio heads back into town to report to the Sheriff and the Mayor their initial findings and resupply before their big trip up to Harrison. They meet some mercenaries - some nice, some not so nice. After stocking up, they head to the town hall, where Gotfree makes his feelings for the Mayor as clear as he can - much to her chagrin. She gives each of the scrappers a few supplies, and sends them on their way.TL;DR -The Stragglers meet Crazy Carl and his deactivated robot Phyllis Carl tells them about a man who might be a potential leadMercenaries don't care if you're fighting raiders - no discountsInter-robo-human relationships tend to be unrequitedBetter be careful running your mouth about cannibals around townFollow your hosts:The Grapefruit Network InstagramDallas on InstagramAlex on InstagramWilliam Support the Show.Sign up for our newsletter, The Peel to stay in the know for all thing Grapefruit Network!Check out The Grapefruit Network on Instagram! The Grapefruit Network © 2020-2024 - All Rights Reserved.
