DC Universe Slate Revealed | Breaking Down Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters!
James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed the new DC Universe slate that crosses over into film, TV, animation, and video games. Before getting to the new universe, four projects are set to debut in 2023 - Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. During the events of The Flash, the universe is rebooted, forever altering the history and future of the DC universe. The new continuity begins with Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters! It currently features ten projects that span film, television, and animation. Beginning sometime in 2024, we'll be introduced to new characters from the Creature Commandos, and previously established characters like Amanda Waller and Peacemaker in Waller, a live-action series set between the events of Peacemaker Season 1 and Season 2. The following year, we'll meet this universe's new Man of Steel in Superman: Legacy, a feature film written by James Gunn, that introduces us to a Superman who's balancing his Kryptonian heritage and human upbringing in a world where true goodness is considered old-fashioned. In the original series Lanterns, space cops Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart make a discovery in Sector 2814 that leads to a much bigger DC event. For the first time, characters from the Wildstorm imprint will be making their cinematic debut in The Authority, a group of morally gray heroes who are dissatisfied with the world and decide to take matters into their own hands to fix it. Before Wonder Woman's birth, Paradise Lost will explore all the darkness, drama, and political intrigue behind this society of only women. In The Brave and the Bold, we will meet the new Batman and his sidekick, Robin, who also happens to be his real son, Damian Wayne. This feature will also introduce various members of the bat family into the DC universe. Booster Gold, an original series, introduces us to Michael Jon Carter, a loser from the future dealing with imposter syndrome who discovers a way to travel to our time to become a superhero. Based on Tom King's award-winning comic book run, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow introduces us to Kara Zor-el, Superman's cousin, who spent over a decade surviving on a remnant of Krypton and witnessing everyone around her perish. When she comes to Earth, she's a bit jaded and broken. Finally, Swamp Thing will explore the darker elements of the DC universe in this intriguing horror story. In a separate DC Elseworlds continuity, The Batman - Part II will debut in theatres on October 3, 2025, and will continue the story set up by Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson. Joker: Folie a Deux continues the story of Arthur Fleck's turn to the dark side and is joined by Harley Quinn. James Gunn Joins DC Studios as Co-CEO, Tribute to Kevin Conroy and JDF | CzechXicans 014
On this Thanksgiving-themed episode of CzechXicans, the boys discuss what they're thankful for this year in life, work and fandom. We raise a glass to Kevin Conroy and Jason David Frank, childhood heroes gone too soon. Kevin provided the voice for Batman/Bruce Wayne since his 1992 debut in 'Batman: The Animated Series' in a 30+ year career that spanned animation, video games, and even led to a cameo in the CW's 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' storylines as an alternate universe Bruce Wayne. Jason David Frank burst onto our screen in 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' as Tommy Oliver, the Green Power Ranger. Jason David Frank continued to be involved with the franchise for nearly 30 years and appeared in various iterations of the Power Rangers story, including the 2017 reboot. Like Kevin, Jason traveled extensively to various conventions around the world, greeting and signing autographs for thousands of fans who loved and were inspired by their performances as Bruce Wayne and Tommy Oliver. Hector shares his experience accompanying Kevin Conroy to a convention while working at one of LA's voice-acting agencies. James Gunn and Peter Safran will lead DC Studios as Co-CEOs. In these roles, James and Peter will be responsible for the next ten years of storytelling and are currently mapping out what the DC Universe will look like across film, television, and animation. This will hopefully give the brand a singular, unified voice that will lead to the return of some of the most beloved characters while also bringing new, never-before-seen characters to the screen. Details are vague, but Gunn is expected to share these plans with Warner Bros. Discovery soon and has also been active on social media to shut down any news or rumors that are false. In a shocking turn of events, Bob Iger is back at The Walt Disney Company. Bob Chapek, Iger's replacement, has been removed as CEO of the company after two years of service that was met with mixed results and responses from investors and fans worldwide. In his new two-year term, Iger will be tasked with turning things around for the company and finding a new replacement to take over as CEO. Watch this episode on YouTube and subscribe to the channel.
