Episode 26: And The Sheep
Been a hot minute but today we cover the last six weeks on our unplanned hiatus. Mostly we talk about Wisconsin Sheep and Wool.
Litterbox
Terri: I have wool coming out of my ears. Wisconsin Sheep and Wool. Will talk about this here a bit.
Libby: I got some really fun things at Wisco Sheep and wool. I’ll cover what I got in the Ooh shiny section. I also had so much fun just looking at things and hanging out. I had my busiest month, but after the 27th things should calm down a little for me.
PAWS
Terri:
Ilya Sweater- Caitlin Hunter I’m using Ullcentrum Yarn in a heathered black, turquoise, and light gray.
Juniper Cowl-Toni Lipsey- I haven’t made any progress
My Favorite Vanilla Socks-I haven’t made any progress
Musselburgh Hat-Ysolda. I think this is my 8th or 9th, not sure. I am making this out of 100 Ravens Yaksha fingering in a purple gradient mini set. 70 merini 20 yak and 10 nylon. Yaksha fingering
Adventurous Wrap-(ravelry link) I’ve just about got the first half of this done. Not made a lot of progress on this one this month, but I will pick it back up soon. I’ve been wanting to get to the halfway point decisively.
Palmistry miits-Stephanie Lotven using my handspun icelandic with the pops of neon that I spun up. Just at the ribbing.
Libby:
Colorblock Bag - stashed
Wizard Hat by Morale Fiber - stashed
Crochet bucket hat - easy design. Haven’t officially started but I am gathering colors
Golden rod wrap top - earthtricks, haven’t officially started, but deciding on yarn. Going to do the sleeveless hoodless version first
Cat Sith Beanie - swatch is done, deciding which color to use first and wanted to finish my legwarmers before I really got going (got distracted)
Happy Glamper Cup Cozy - Craftily Connected website, admittedly haven’t looked at anything else on the site, just found this pattern and started it with my new hook & some (I think it’s cotton?) yarn I was given from Terri’s stash. I just started this last night but I am learning how to do a foundation SC instead of chaining so I had to frog and will restart as I didn’t read the pattern well enough and did not leave a long tail.
FO PAWS
Terri:
Ezra Vest-Orlane Sucche I am doing this in Kelbourne Woolens Scout the Juniper Heather colorway. This is done.
Dustland Hat- Stephen West Leaf Livestock DK-chartreuse
Purl Soho Classic Cuffed Beanie- in handspun. I think it was polypay that I spun up in a slightly uneven worsted weight yarn from Mitten State wool. I almost ran out. I closed the top one round early and I had about 8 inches of yarn left.
Paul Klee Sweater (ravelry link)- Midori Hirose On the second sleeve! Might finish by the time we record
Libby:
Crochet Cozy Legwarmers - All done! These turned out so cute, they’re thick and cozy (the title was correct). If I made them again I would maybe pick a yarn that is slightly thinner because they did get pretty bulky in spots. Perfect for our falling temperatures we are FINALLY getting. Will photograph this week.
From Fluff to Stuff
Let’s talk Fleeces. I have really come into a lot of wool fleeces lately.
Ooh Shiny!
Terri: Fleeces. I want all the different kinds. I thought I would take this opportunity to talk about what I got in Wisconsin if I can remember it all. HAHA…
I bought 3 fleeces and picked up one I purchased already.
First one was an incredible Corriedale from Observatory Hill Farm. I have washed this one already and it is AMAZING. Soft, Various Grays. It is so beautiful. That sheeps name was Icey (Ice Wine).
Second one I bought was an Icelandic from Redmer Farms. It’s a gorgeous gray and white varied fleece. It’s stunning. I have washed this one already. It barely needed it, I swear it was the cleanest fleece I’ve ever seen. VM is almost non-existant. It was the easiest thing I’ve ever cleaned. His name was Mortimer/Morty and he came with a thank you note for buying his fleece. It is adorable.
Third one was some dark gray Gotland from Three Towers Farm LLC. This is also washed. I don’t know this sheeps name. Lovely, well defined curls. I find Gotland really interesting to spin.
The one I picked up was from Jubilee Farms and it is a Merino Leicester cross. I have washed about a pound of this one. I’ll probably work on this one more this week. It is a really interesting mix. It is VERY soft, but also has quite a luster and definitely a longer staple than merino. I hope to spin up a sample this week to see what it’s like as yarn and maybe dye some to see how it takes dye.
I also bought 4 skeins of worsted weight Leceister from this booth. It was really nice to meet a wafa vendor.
I bought LOTS of things and the Frivolous Ewe booth. I just love her wool and her colors. She dyes so beautifully saturated colors.
I bought a skein of The fingering neon tweed at KnitzandPearls booth.
I got you a Crochet Hook and a southdown batt at Starknits.
I bought the mini set at Hundred Ravens
I bought a Halloween-y skein at Oink Pigments
I bought a bunch of soap at Floppy Ear Farm as well.
I bought a lot less fiber than I thought I would. I think I was a bit overwhelmed by it all. It was SO MUCH FUN. I am going to make a better plan of attack next year because I definitely missed some things I wanted to see.
Libby: WI sheep and wool stuff:
Cool yarn: Knitzandpearls Fiberworks, Plummyliscious Groovy Glow Tweed in fingering weight, 2 skeins purple and pinks with flecks of neon orange, yellow & green (blacklight reactive)

Also got a whole bag of yarn from when Terri visited
I have a ton of ooh shiny patterns for next episode
Leisure Suit-
Terri-So much stuff over the last month. I did start Gilmore Girls at your place and I am still watching Criminal Minds. Started rewatching Midnight Mass. I LOVE THAT SHOW. I will probably have to rewatch it every October.
Libby:
Sopranos - We did finish the sopranos, it was very good but I have feelings about the ending like everyone else does
Gbbs - Finished my rewatch of the older seasons, haven’t started the new season quite yet.
The crown - on season 2 episode 3, I really like this show actually. Matt Smith is awesome in it
Gilmore Girls - Started my rewatch when the fam was here and I’m now on like season 3.
Catnip- WIsconsin trip/Back to the Future musical. My anniversary DRUM CARDER from my husband.
Libby: Wisconsin trip, 2 festivals, zeds dead in Madison
The Fluff- Terri: The cats are doing well still. Not much here to report again. I missed them when we were in Wisconsin, but they had someone stopping in to feed them and I could see them on our camera and talk to them. I think that definitely helped.
Libby: Penny is so loud all the time lol. I’m not really sure why. She’s been playing with more toys which is awesome to see.
