Our Editor's Take

The Drunk Women Solving Crime podcast isn't exactly what it claims to be. Yes, the hosts are drunk. But they don't manage to solve the crimes they discuss in each episode. Still, this podcast is a fun listening experience for those who enjoy true crime and comedy. Each week, the hosts get together with a guest to chat about an unsolved crime for about an hour.

The three hosts of Drunk Women Solving Crime have other jobs, too. When she's sober, Hannah George writes for children's television. Catie Wilkins does standup comedy and has authored several books. Taylor Glenn also does standup and writes comedy. All three of the podcast hosts live in the UK.

Every week, Hannah, Catie, and Taylor have a guest on Drunk Women Solving Crime. Heidi Regan talks about the crimes she's abetted without knowing it. Comedy writer Kimia Etemadi shares her brief experience as a vigilante in an episode. Lou Sanders discusses her nefarious past in the episode she joins.

Drunk Women Solving Crime also has a Men's Month. The podcast devotes November to inviting male comedians to the show. Saturday Night Live cast member Mikey Day talks about the night he spent in jail. In another episode, comedian Ed Byrne describes the world of "swag-bag supplies." Comedian Bilal Zafar also joins, telling the hosts about the time he framed his parents.

The podcast usually shares a cold case and a description of a crime every week. The hosts prefer bizarre, ridiculous, or silly crimes. The audience will sometimes chime in with their salacious true crime. While the hosts and their guests aren't great at solving crimes, they succeed in making their audiences laugh throughout the show.

Listeners may appreciate the high energy of the podcast and the quality of its guests. In the live episodes, the hosts love to interact with their audience, making the listener feel as if they are right there in the room. Drunk Women Solving Crime has new episodes each week.

280 DWSC LIVE: With Michelle de Swarte
What better way to herald the resurrection of weekly episodes than the return of the wonderful Michelle de Swarte to the show? The gang was thrilled to welcome Michelle back, this time in front of a live audience at the first DWSC London Residency of 2024.Luckily for everyone, Michelle has been victim of a crime more than once, and so had a fresh story to share with the crowd, before reminding us of her incredible detective abilities, soon finding her feet on the force, and helping to solve a tawdry tale of sweaty beasts and demanding dandies, which may, or may not involve an icon from history. As always, we round off the show with a story from a member of the audience, and in this case the perpetrator certainly operated with intent.Look out for Michelle's new show 'Spent' which will air on the BBC in the UK, during late spring 2024 and see below for details of how to see the Drunk Women LIVE...Tickets are now on sale for the DWSC London residency at their NEW VENUE of The Museum of Comedy - full details and tickets for March, April, May and June shows can be found here - Drunk Women Solving Crime - The UK's hit true crime comedy podcastYou can also support the show on Patreon, and for as little as £3 a month, have access to ad free episodes, bonus content, live zoom records AND be the subject of one of Taylor's incredible shout outs - Drunk Women Solving Crime | creating Podcasts | Patreon Hosted on Acast. 279 DWSC LIVE: With Toby Williams
But, it's not Men's Month, we hear those of you who are listening to this on release in February 2024 cry.... Yes, true, but Toby Williams isn't any old man, he's an actor, writer AND he married and impregnated our very own Hannah George, so it's actually well overdue that we hear from Mr HG himself. And what better occasion for him to grace the stage than when DWSC was live at the Ventnor Fringe, Hannah's home town on the Isle of Wight. As well as Toby confessing some criminal activity that could well see his marriage on the rocks (being 8 years old is NO excuse), the team also delves into a local crime proving that despite its twee image, the Isle of Wight is a hotbed of vice. We finish proceedings by hearing from somebody in the audience about a crime which originates in Taylor's homeland, which distracted her from the urge to climb-up the rigging of the tent at least!  Tickets are now on sale for the DWSC London residency at their NEW VENUE of The Museum of Comedy - full details and tickets for March, April, May and June shows can be found here - Drunk Women Solving Crime - The UK's hit true crime comedy podcastYou can also support the show on Patreon, and for as little as £3 a month, have access to ad free episodes, bonus content, live zoom records AND be the subject of one of Taylor's incredible shout outs - Drunk Women Solving Crime | creating Podcasts | Patreon Hosted on Acast.
