Eric Bischoff is one of the most successful and controversial personalities in the history of wrestling. 83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff is a podcast that explains how and why Bischoff managed to have such an impact.
83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff host Bischoff has been a star in the world of professional wrestling for decades. He started out working in the sales department of the American Wrestling Association. A chance encounter led to him working as an on-air personality, which he was averse to at the beginning. However, he managed to excel in the role and soon became a premier announcer. He would go on to work for the company until it closed. In 1990, Bischoff auditioned for an announcer's role at WWE, but Vince McMahon chose not to hire him. This would go on to be one of the biggest mistakes that McMahon would ever make.
Bischoff would go on to work for their competitor, WCW. He would end up going from on-air announcer to senior vice president. He would then make it his mission to ensure that WCW would beat WWE in the ratings. And up until recently, Bischoff was one of the only men in history who had managed to accomplish this feat. The fact that he had managed to do so during WWE's heyday is even more impressive. The title 83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff stems from that. It comes from his WCW beating WWE in the ratings for 83 weeks in a row.
Bischoff himself cohosts the podcast. Conrad Thompson, Bischoff's friend, and a fellow wrestling fan, also cohosts. The two often will talk about everything and anything wrestling. The episodes vary between two different formats. Some will focus on what is currently going on in the wrestling world. Others will offer a detailed profile of a wrestler. Some episodes talk to wrestlers of the past. Bischoff even talks about the worst of WCW.
83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff premieres new episodes every Monday.
