I am Ray Hanania. It is Wednesday Sept. 27, 2023 and this is Season 3 Episode 22 We have an amazing story and interviews for you today ... Lebanese American Carlos Ghosn was a celebrated businessman who radically restructured the Renault automobile company when he was hired there in 1996 and it increased the company's profits dramatically the following year. Several years later, Renault and Nissan formed an alliance that Ghosn oversaw and he joined Nissan as its COO in 1999, becoming president in 2000 and then CEO in 2001. He was only the 4th non-Japanese person to head a Japanese automaker. The world was awed by Ghosn's successful and rapid rise in the auto industry. But in 2018, things quickly changed when he was arrested by Tokyo Police and accused of engaging in "false accounting" practices. He was also accused and later charged by the Government of France in April 22 for his role in overseeing Renault, a dramatic fall from grace across the board. Ghosn was arrested, released and then re-arrested several times, and placed under house arrest, until after posting bond was released on bail in 2019. His fate in Japan seemed certain and ominous until a former GREEN BERRETT Michael Taylor stepped in On December 29, 2019, Ghosn left his Tokyo apartment and was secretly escorted out of the country in a large crate by my Taylor, a former Green Berrett whose wife was related to Ghosn. It was an amazing escape that angered Japanese and French Officials. Taylor and his son Peter were later arrested in May 2020 in Massachusetts and then extradicted to Japan in March 2021. His son was eventually released after serving time and Michael Taylor was released on January 1, 2023. You couldn't make this story up ... we are going to speak with Michael Taylor, an attorney who believes TAYLOR WAS wrongly charged and convicted Dr. William Cleary

Several major heads of State from the Founding Nations did not address the UN; the goals of UNGA's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have not keptpace with expectations, now halfway through the 10 year plan only achieving 15 percent of their goals have been achieved ... and should there be reforms to give the General Assembly a greater voice in UN actions and deliberations including reforming the UN Security Council which is often unable to make decisions because of the Veto powers of the five founding member nations the United States, China, Russia, France and the United Kingdom ... the UN began with 51 nations in 1945 and today now has 193 member nations ... how do you make the UN equitable ... we have also seen a growing influence among competing nation organizations such as the G20 and now the new BRICS alliance among many others, further undermining the UN's mandate ... We're going to be speaking with two guests We begin with Ephrem Kossaify, the United Nations Bureau Chief Correspondent for Arab News Newspaper, is going to give us an overview of what the UNGA 78 session will be seeking to achieve and then with Amal Mudallali is the Former Lebanon Ambassador to the United Nations and is currently an International Affairs Analyst who will discuss the successes and the challenges that face the United Nations ... can the UN be more equitable and fair and can the Veto of the UN Security Council be brought under control?
