Our Editor's Take

Jacob and Olivia Rozencwaig started the Curious Kid Podcast when Olivia was four. Jacob, Olivia's dad, remembers how he would put his daughter to bed when she was younger. At bedtime, she became a mini-philosopher. She'd ask him existential questions like why the sky is blue or how many animals live in the ocean. If he didn't know the answer, he would research it. Together, they learned a lot of new facts, and Olivia would tell them to the kids on the playground.

That's exactly how the educational podcast came to be. Jacob wanted to find a creative way to share his daughter's curiosity with other kids. Along the way, they'd all learn something-himself included. With the Curious Kid Podcast, listeners can join this learning journey.

At the beginning of the podcast, the topics aligned with Olivia's age and were more general and basic. She and her dad learned about why people sleep, how microwaves work, and the range of human feelings. But as Olivia grew older, the podcast grew, too. As years passed, her questions became more complicated. Some favorite episodes focused on animals, like crocodiles, giraffes, or snails. Other episodes about human anatomy discuss the brain or the heart. Even though the Curious Kid Podcast is for kids, adults can enjoy the episodes, too. Topics on Greek mythology, the Bermuda Triangle, and even taxes might teach a parent a thing or two.

The Curious Kid Podcast is a great way for children to learn from their peers. Olivia has an active role on the show, where she asks questions that might be on any kid's mind. If the explanation is too complicated, she's there to ask again until it's clear. The father-daughter team has fun learning together. They pass on that enjoyment to their listeners, making this podcast as entertaining as it is educational.
