Power Trip

Realm

My name is Jane, and I can make you do whatever I want. If you think I’m going to say ‘just kidding!’ think again. My wish is also my command.  Being chronically ill means you have the best seat on the perpetual struggle bus. Thanks to the very sexy diagnosis of end-stage kidney disease I was always missing out: on my dream writing career, finding love (bah humbug, but one can hope…right?)…even literally missing my daily train to get to work because I’d trip and fall on my cane. Classic Jane: basketcase.   But thanks to a black-market kidney donation giving me mysterious powers, the tables have turned. Now I get drinks on the house, dates whenever I want them, writing opportunities that actually pay the bills… for the first time, people take me seriously. Because I make them.  The downside? (There always is one.) Keeping the truth hidden. That’s where my new crew comes in: individually, we’re a bunch of freaks with secrets no one in our lives can know, but together, we’re the ones finally running the show. Power Trip is a Realm production starring Tatiana Maslany, written by Mary Hamilton, additional writing by Cara Horner, and featuring performances by Brendan Hines and Lisa Loeb. Our Editor's Take

Power Trip is a fictional podcast that tells an amazing tale. Actor Tatiana Maslany, who starred in Orphan Black and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, is the lead voice here. She portrays Jane, the main character on the show. Mary Hamilton and Cara Horner write the podcast. Singer Lisa Loeb and actor Brendan Hines voice characters on the show. Hines also has a real-life connection to Maslany. They got married in 2022.

Jane grew up with renal disease, and the disorder has progressed to its final stages. So she needs a new kidney. The Power Trip podcast tells the dramatic story of what happens next. Instead of getting a new kidney from a legitimate donor, Jane gets it through the dark web. This illegal action is just part of her story. The kidney transplant is successful, and her life improves. She is healthy and no longer needs any assistance for walking or any other activities.

However, the new kidney does more than improve Jane's health. She discovers that she has gained mysterious powers. Now she can make people do whatever she wants. With her newfound abilities, Jane finally gets what she's always wanted-success in her writing career and love life. However, keeping this truth hidden becomes much more difficult as time goes on. The Power Trip podcast tells this story over eight half-hour episodes.

Listeners get to be part of an exciting journey through each episode. The Power Trip title indicates the theme of this show. Listeners hear how power changes everything around them—from relationships to careers. That's all because one person holds it over others like magic! The downside? Keeping secrets never ends well, and when someone is hiding something so big, it is even worse.

Writer Hamilton describes the show as "Fleabag with magic." The Power Trip podcast debuted in 2022. Listeners who enjoy suspenseful stories may enjoy this show. It is also a good podcast for those who want an escape into another world full of intrigue.
