No Degree? No Problem! (Interview with Jonaed Iqbal)

No Degree? No Problem! (Interview with Jonaed Iqbal)
Do we judge our mechanic by his or her ability to pass a calculus test? Of course not! So, what does that have to do with my guest for this episode? I’m about to tell you! Based in New York City, Jonaed Iqbal is a career consultant who is set on shattering the stigma associated with hiring people without college degrees. He believes that regardless of background, academic achievement, or formal education, everyone has something to offer and everyone deserves meaningful work, especially since a degree is usually not an accurate representation of a person or their intelligence in the first place. He is not anti-education though. He holds a Master of Science in Actuarial Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics and Economics. He worked as an Actuary for a few years before he cashed out his retirement so he could pursue working on NoDegree.com.  While he understands that the college route isn’t for everyone and is committed to helping them find meaningful career paths, he also works with those with college degrees. He’s worked on over 75 candidates, many of whom have gotten jobs at places like Tesla, Amazon, AT&T and MetLife.  Jonaed has a unique background. He was born in Bangladesh, moved to NYC when he was 3 years old and learned English by watching cartoons on TV. He's an avid networker, always looking to create meaningful connections with others both professionally and personally. Jonaed is a friendly and open-minded person, dedicated to his family and friends. People around him describe him as a kind, supporting, caring person, whose mission is to help others. He is the founder of NoDegree.com and No Degree Podcast. He also operates ACE Virtual Events and creates resumes as well as teaches resume writing. I would say his story definitely qualifies as an interesting reinvention story.  In this episode of Hey It’s Julie, I spend some time chatting with Jonaed Iqbal about his business, his evolution and more. Guest: Jonaed Iqbal, No Degree.com and No Degree PodcastNo Degree on the Web: https://www.NoDegree.comNo Degree Resources: https://www.nodegree.com/directoryfromInstagram/Jonaed on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonaed/No Degree on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/nodegree.com/No Degree on Twitter: https://twitter.com/NoDegreeDotComNo Degree on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NoDegreeIncNo Degree on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nodegreepodcast/ Hey It’s Julie Host: Julie BaselloJulie is the founder and operator of J Basello Media, a one stop shop helping new entrepreneurs with their reinvention business journeys through marketing, content creation and social media coachingKey Links: https://linktr.ee/heyitsjuliepodcastHey It’s Julie Podcast Merch: https://www.etsy.com/shop/HeyItsJuliePodcastProduction and Marketing: Julie BaselloSupport the show
The Big Idea

The Big Idea
I’m trying something a little different between interviews and I wanted to share it with you. This episode is kicking off a sub series I am bringing to you as part of this podcast called Reinvention Adventure. I am still going to do interviews—I promise. Interviews and human stories are the basis of this podcast adventure for me. But I’ve had so many comments and questions about what I do as a Business Mentor, Content Creator and Marketing Content Coach that I decided to create a new series. This series will include tips, resources and insights for those who are just starting out on a business reinvention for themselves and are feeling a little lost about things like branding, social media marketing and content creation. I will cover all different aspects of the process to hopefully ease you into your business reinvention or at the very least, give you some helpful advice on various relevant topics.I know that I am one voice in a sea of voices. I want you to know that I’m a regular person like you who happened to gain a ton of knowledge on my business journey. And I like to share. Everything will not be appropriate for everyone so if something doesn’t work for you, just focus on using what does work for you. I find that I gain insight into things even when I listen to information about topics I already have some knowledge about. Sometimes hearing things from a different voice just reinforces what you know or allows something to hit a different way. Not a bad thing….Okay so, Let’s start off this series with a chat about the big idea. Everything starts with the big idea. What exactly do I mean when I say The Big Idea….Listen to this episode to find out.Thank you for listening. Need some coaching on your reinvention adventure? Shiny Silver Objects (Interview with Michele Grady)

Shiny Silver Objects (Interview with Michele Grady)
Hey It’s Julie.Welcome to Episode 5 aptly named Shiny Silver Objects. You’ll see why that title makes sense when you listen to my great interview with jewelry artist, Michele Grady in this episode. Michele is a self-taught jewelry artist and metalsmith and she’s been making jewelry for as long as she can remember. Stringing beads as a child and making clay pendants in school segued to metalsmithing which she fell in love with at the age of 18.  And she’s never looked back. This has been her passion for over 25 years. She has also taught metalsmithing and precious metal clay classes as a certified instructor. In fact, she has taught hundreds of people, many who have gone on to work as jewelry artists and form their own businesses. Her work has been sold to customers all over the world and it is all created in her personal studio in New Jersey. In addition to her already hefty resume, she is also a social media influencer. She and I met when I owned my art gallery that I talked about in Episode 1. We got to be friendly and I not only liked her work but found her to be an interesting person for a variety of reasons. Unlike some of my other guests, she doesn’t really have a reinvention story related to her career. She found her passion early and charged full speed ahead with it ever since. I greatly admire that. It’s not that it’s unusual to find your passion. However for that passion to develop into a career as a working jewelry artist and successful business owner, and to make a living at it for over 25 years is incredible. She has managed all of this success as a single mom and full time care-giver for her son with SMA which is a form of Muscular Dystrophy. She is not someone who sits and waits for things to happen and she navigates her life and her career with talent and grace. Learn about how selling handmade jewelry is changing, some wholesale and retail tips, and more in this interesting conversation with a successful working jewelry artist and influencer. Host: Julie BaselloProduction: Julie BaselloGuest: Michele Grady   http://www.michelegrady.comMichele Grady on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/michelegradydesigns/Podcast Merch: https://www.etsy.com/shop/HeyItsJuliePodcast Save $ 100 off Your Successful Podcast course with this link and coupon code: http://www.yoursuccessfulpodcast.com/heyitsjuliecoupon code:  heyitsjulieFollowing the link below to let Buzzsprout know I sent you. Live On Purpose (Interview with Kate Lemay)
Welcome to Episode 4 of Hey Its Julie Podcast. In this episode, my guest is someone special to me. Her work is literally in every room of my apartment. We met years ago when we both owned our art galleries a few blocks away from each other. She is someone who I instantly felt comfortable and connected with. Regardless of what she is doing, she has always had clarity of purpose, is completely present and knows where she wants to take her journey. She focuses on creating, learning, teaching, growing and sharing. She is a spiritual awakener, a people connector, a goal seeker, co-host of Chatting Chakras Podcast and at the center of all of these things, she is an artist, or as she describes herself, an artist of conscious evolution. A really special, really electric, really unique artist. And her mission statement is awesome. It's at the end of this episode and you don't want to miss it.I am very excited to introduce you to Kate Lemay.Thank you for listening. I appreciate you.
