Principles of Freedom

S. Max Brown

As we learn the principles of freedom, we live better lives. Higher Purpose + Personal Responsibility + Stand for Liberty = Freedom. These conversations are all about learning, expanding and appreciating different perspectives as we seek to understand one another. We promote civility in debate -- not hate. As we share stories, we humanize one another. We share the stories about how good people can make a positive difference in our communities and in our country. We share the stories of statesmanship, public service, the impact of legislation, the importance of history, and the role of government in enabling -- not controlling -- how people live and thrive. We discuss a higher purpose, personal responsibility and standing for liberty. We talk about what it means to be free. read less

Laura Stack: Johnny's Ambassadors -- Youth Marijuana Prevention

Laura Stack: Johnny's Ambassadors -- Youth Marijuana Prevention
The Founder & CEO of Johnny’s Ambassadors is Laura Stack, Johnny’s mom. Before losing Johnny, she was a successful 30-year businesswoman, professional speaker, and published author with two for-profit organizations. In Laura’s Words: If you’re a regular visitor to Johnny’s Ambassadors blog, you no doubt know Johnny’s story, and the stimulus for my fight against marijuana use by young people. For those who may read this in other venues and don’t know me, I’m a concerned, grieving mother, who is active in the movement to discourage young people from using marijuana in any form until their brains are formed—and hopefully never. My family and I live in Colorado, one of the first states in America to legalize the recreational use of marijuana. This released a flood of pot onto our streets, and our government regulation failed to limit it to adult users. It soon spread like a plague into our adolescent population. Any high schooler can get high-potency dabs in five minutes here in Colorado.Johnny had a 4.0 GPA and a perfect 800/800 score on the SAT math portion. He attended church and youth group and did regular family things. At 14, Johnny began smoking marijuana when he attended a high school party and wanted to try getting high with his friends. At 16, he moved on to dabbing high-THC products like wax and shatter. At 18, he experienced psychosis and delusional episodes, a suicide attempt, and by 19, full-blown schizophrenia (the psychosis didn’t resolve when the marijuana was withdrawn). Tragically, despite our repeated efforts at rehab and support, he refused to take the antipsychotic medication he now needed, and he died by suicide on November 20, 2019, convinced the mob was after him and “everyone knew everything about him.”As Johnny said in his college essay describing his most important value, “To me, altruism means being selfless or giving to other people, even when there may be nothing to gain and something to lose. Altruistic people do things for the collective interest instead of their own.” Johnny’s Ambassadors are joined in altruistic solidarity to save the lives of our youth from the harms of marijuana.“Forge ahead despite your pain and give meaning to your loss.” – Laura StackTo learn more visit: johnnysambassadors.org

Codi Galloway is a conservative mom, business owner, outdoor enthusiast, and former elementary school teacher who believes in a conservative government in Idaho.  As the Republican candidate for the Idaho House of Representatives in District 15B, she will prioritize making the Idaho economy strong through a business friendly environment, keeping taxes low and enhancing education. I am committed to keeping Idaho a great place to be!Listen in as Codi shares why she is running for office!Get to Know Codi:Elementary School TeacherAfter graduating from college, I got my first job as a public school teacher.  For three years, I taught kids how to think for themselves, use data to solve problems, and communicate effectively. My favorite part of teaching was helping kids find their individual strengths and capitalize on their unique abilities.   Wife and Mother to Four KidsI married my high school sweetheart, Scott Galloway, and we came back to Boise to start our family.  Our first three kids were born in under four years! I was their stay at home mom and loved watching my little ones grow. Profitable Business OwnerWhen my kids went off to school, I decided I was ready to go back to school too.  Instead of returning to the public school system, I started my own school.  Together, with my husband, we opened LeapFox Learning on the corner of Eagle Rd and Fairview.   With hard work, a few mistakes, and some good mentoring we grew LeapFox into one of the largest technical training schools in Idaho.   I count building a profitable business from scratch to sale as one of my key accomplishments.  I lived the American dream and now have a deep admiration for all those who take risks and work long hours, with or without a paycheck, to keep our economy rolling. Outdoor Girl who loves her Family and FaithI love to be outside!   You might catch me with my kids on skis at Bogus in the winter or Lucky Peak in the summer.   We like them both!  In the past few years, I have been racing Spartans with my husband, the Boise Ironman with my friends, and climbing mountains with my family.  Connecting with people outside and being active brings me great joy.  Sunday mornings you will find me with my family in church.  I have been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all my life. Representing My Boise NeighborhoodI was born to a fighter pilot dad and a patriotic mom.  From the time I was a little girl I was taught to honor and respect the freedom we enjoy in America; I love the USA and am proud to have called Idaho home for the past 40 years.  I went to kindergarten in this district and watched my son graduate from Centennial High School in June.   My husband and I chose to raise our family where we grew up, because we love our community!   Idaho is a great place to live, work and play, but if we are not careful, we will become an over-governed, red tape state, with high taxes and sub-par opportunities in education. To support Codi Galloway click here
