#19: Why a Pelvic Floor Specialist is a MUST for your Physical Therapy and Fitness Needs
Moms - if you've ever seen an orthopedic PT or personal trainer that doesn't specialize in pregnancy, postpartum and pelvic floor needs and you didn't get everything you need out of it... listen up! More visits, more copays, or heavier weights isn't the answer - a provider who specializes on your exact needs as a mom, is!When moms complain about back pain, hip pain, rib pain, etc they often see an orthopedic PT. When moms are struggling with getting their strength or endurance back, or trying to 'lost the baby weight' they often run to Orange Theory, hop on the Peloton, or hire the first personal trainer available at the gym. The best physical therapist for moms, even moms with issues that they assume are completely unrelated, is a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist. The best personal trainer for pregnant and postpartum women, even if they are years postpartum, and even if they are currently not experiencing issues, is one who is specializes in pelvic floor function. In today's episode you will learn all about how extensive the list is of everything PFPTs treat, and why the fitness industry is the wild west when it comes to adequately supporting moms. If you are feeling our passion for this topic, please be sure to leave a rating AND a review - we appreciate it so much!We will have 3 different types of episodes and one will drop each week on Mondays!Movement and educationMom life struggles and experiencesBusiness ownershipTake us for a walk, listen while you tackle some chores, or let us join you as you hustle your crew around town! #15: C-Section Delivery - The Major Surgery that Isn't Treated like Major Surgery
Today, we are talking all things c-sections! There is so much that goes into the physical and emotional recovery of a birth already, and c-sections (especially if they are unplanned) can throw moms for a whole different loop. When the average mom has a c-section, there is usually so much that goes unknown about the delivery, the initial recovery, and how having a c-section can still affect the pelvic floor muscles, not to mention the function of other body parts, longer term.If you have had a c-section yourself this is a MUST LISTEN, and if you are preparing yourself for the possibility of your desired vaginal birth not going as planned (which you should), it's a good idea to learn more about this method of delivery just in case. We would love to hear - what blows your mind about this episode? Anything? We will have 3 different types of episodes and one will drop each week on Mondays!Movement and educationMom life struggles and experiencesBusiness ownershipTake us for a walk, listen while you tackle some chores, or let us join you as you hustle your crew around town!
