Our Editor's Take

TODAY with Hoda and Jenna is the podcast version of the popular NBC talk show of the same name. It gives listeners a daily dose of pop culture news and heartwarming stories.

NBC's TODAY with Hoda and Jenna is a lighthearted daytime show that airs every morning across the US. It started out as an expansion of the network's TODAY show. Over time, it became an individual entity. The hosts changed over the years as well. The first iteration had Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. When Kathie announced her departure in 2019, Jenna Bush Hager took her place.

Both hosts of TODAY with Hoda and Jenna have extensive journalistic backgrounds. Hoda joined the network in 1998 as a correspondent for Dateline. She reported on events like Hurricane Katrina, the Iraq War, and the Olympics. Hoda has also won numerous awards for her journalism, including an Emmy. Her cohost, Jenna, has been in the spotlight since childhood, thanks to her famous family George Bush, her grandfather, was the 41st US president and George W. Bush, her father, was the 43rd US president. She is the author of two books including the bestseller Sisters First. During her career, Jenna has interviewed important figures like Michelle Obama. She has also won a Daytime Emmy for her work on TODAY.

On TODAY with Hoda and Jenna, the hosts showcase their softer sides. One of the main segments of the show is celebrity interviews. In one episode, the pair speak to Jason Mraz about his new album, from which he performs live. In another, they speak to Anastasia Soare, the founder of Anastasia Beverly Hills.

There are also a number of repeating segments. "Read with Jenna" is the show's popular book club. This is a fitting segment, since Laura Bush, Jenna's mother, was a librarian. In "Jenna's Bookshop," the cohost recommends items to enhance the reading experience. On "TikTok Made Us Try It," the pair tests out popular online products.
